Great review and fantastic looking game... Although I have to wonder, why do new pc games require more and more powerful hardware? I know the graphics and such improve but seeing as how I am such a poor bastard new games seem to be getting far more out of reach for the average or low spec pc gamer. Is it really not possible to make a good looking game and let it run on an average comp? Shame really.

Glad you liked the review.
What you describe is the lot in life of all gamers, really, although it's particularly true of PC gamers, of course. Games designers are lambasted if they don't push the envelope with what is available, and as they innovate and as technology inexorably advances, what is considered 'average' increases as well.
The good news, of course, is that there are a ton of great games out there that would run on older systems and the price is always coming down on those older games when they're no longer top of their genre. So if you don't mind playing older games, that were made when your current rig was still cutting-edge, there are enough games to last a long time.

Very true. It is limiting though, I mean games like skyrim, bulletstorm, assassins creed, dead space, etc. work fine for instance but that is about the limit. It is irritating though how many gamers are hyped up for new games while I for example am restricted and unable to play said games. Thank you anyway very informing.

I know it's not really going to be any consolation, but I really do know the feeling. I'm fortunate now in that I have access to a great machine, but I think most PC gamers know that special kind of sorrow when the latest game is advertised and you just kind of sigh and dream of being able to run it.

Enjoying the old school gameplay, but agree that you seem to be rushed from room to room - so many times I spent a few seconds looking around for ammo or pills, only to get a 'game over' screen for dawdling. Not quite sure why they pushed the realism on that front, when the rest of the game has you taking on entire military squadrons and mafia gangs single-handed!

Yeah that gets on your nerves very quickly, especially since you can't even tell which chapter has time limit and which doesn't...
"I have to find the boss' lady" doesn't really count as "1 minute remaining in the second period" :D

Yep, a little more clarity would be useful! Now I'm just steaming through the entire game, takes some of the fun out.

they should have made the game with more contents...it's rubbish with almost no items on sight !
But we have fun killing entire military squadrons or mafia gangs single-handed!
SO NON-REALLISTIC...oh well MAX PAYNE 1 FTW!!!

Thanks guys!
One little amendment I need to make to what I said though. When I said "As much as in any game I’ve ever played, Max Payne 3 has the feel of a shooting gallery", Time Crisis is the obvious exception...

Great review, as always :D
The bugs seem to vary depending on where you got the game, my friend bought it from a game retailer and he has had no issues with it and my bugged version is from GamersGate. Where did you purchase the game from?

I experienced three CTDs while I was playing through the game once, and also got smelged into the scenery a couple of times, once so badly that even quitting and strating a multiplayer game didn't fix it! But overall, it wasn't nearly as buggy as I feared. Certainly perfectly playable.

Oh and BTW, I'm a Medical Student, so the first thing that popped into my mind when you said CTDs was "Connective Tissue Disorder".
I think I got it wrong..

Your choice of words are amazing! I get to learn so much! Awesome review as well. Going for headshots using 'only' the beretta must require some skill...I'l play it soon to see if I can do it.
