It's a crying shame you need a godforsaken super computer to run this fantastic looking game... Now that I think about it my computer is lucky even to run tetris. Ah the joys of having no money.

That 6GB RAM thing makes me thinking. Does a game really need so much memory or we are waiting a porrly optimized game engine?

If the game is going to be poorly optimized, we will face a CPU problem, like in GTA IV or LA Noire.

Far Cry 2 was a little too ambitious IMHO, the open world mechanics weren't quite there. I kept getting attacked by random jeeps and dying (or having my transport blown up), then having to replay 15-20 minutes of driving from one place to another for it to happen again (this was the PS3 version though, I think the PC version had a better save system).
-
I'd prefer a more compact map, or at least one with more interesting hidden locations, like Skyrim. There seemed to be a lot of wandering across vast grassy/sandy areas in Far Cry 2, with nothing but identical mini bases to break it up. Hoping for easier sneak attacks on bases too - the baddies in Far Cry 2 seemed to be a crack shot with a knackered old rifle from about 1000 yards, and could spot you from a mile out even when you were lying down in thick vegetation.
-
Big hopes for Far Cry 3 though, if they nail the plot and improve on Far Cry 2's reasonably solid foundations, this could be a game of the year contender.

The ability to quicksave certainly fixed your 15-20 minute problem. Why PC gamers have to worry about checkpoints is completely beyond me. There was still a lot of travelling from place to place, naturally, but I thought that was part of the experience.

I agree, even Max Payne 3 (a game that utilizes latest PC hardware) uses checkpoints... :S

I loathe checkpoints. Absolutely loathe them. I've never played a game that they add anything to. If it's a tense, creepy game like AvP, all the checkpoints do is cause you to play the same scene over and over, making it absolutely devoid of any creepiness. Utterly stupid. Even console players should be beyond this now - why not have a quicksave option in the pause menu?

Same here, especially if you suddenly have to go somewhere and you're in the middle of a game...

Oh yeah, that's annoying. And when portable games on the PSP/DS/iPhone have checkpoints, it really takes the smeg.
