Introduction

for some reason images  are not showing up going to add in imgur link

http://imgur.com/a/C2Kbf

i dont game as much as i use to and dont really play the demanding games i use to so i went for a nice portable option for my gaming experience in the following comments i will be listing Specs, pros, cons, benchmarks and thoughts of mixed feelings.

Specs

  • GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB GDDR5
  • Intel Core i7 7th Gen 7700HQ (2.80 GHz)
  • 16 GB Memory 1 TB HDD 256 GB SSD
  • 17.3" Full HD 1920 x 1080
  • 16.30" x 10.70" x 1.20"-1.30" 6.60 lbs.
  • DVD±R/RW
  • Windows 10 Home 64-Bit

Pro's

This rgb keyboard is truly a sight to behold its customizable with 1 solid color can strobe light can be a mixture of 4 different colors the options are nearly endless the keys feel very nice dont press down to far but far enough you wont accidently type when moving your hand softly over the keyboard (image will be below pros)

The kaby lake cpu i7 7th Gen 7700hq clocked at 2.80ghz turbos to 3.4 is a very nice cpu it handles cpu games well gta 5 cities skylines (and even universe sandbox if you played it you know what i mean) more on this later.

The m.2 ssd very fast and is sufficent for os and some often played games on there to

The lid is backlit with with wonderful orange lighting for the asus rog logo

Durable i can grab the lid at one of the corners push and tug on it a little and it moves the whole screen no bending and flexing its very well designed

Touchpad is very nice large and responsive however i wish they included deciated buttons for left mouse and right mouse click (more below positive

No bloatware it comes with asus software which is fairly helpful for showing clock speeds temps controlling the colors of rgb keyboard and it gives you a list of reccomended programs if you want to download thankfully its optional some of them (more below positive)

17inch screen is 1080p (finally 720p is no longer mainstream on majority of laptops)

GTX 1050ti is a little powerhouse its not the best gpu in existence im aware but it can hold its own against most titles, older titles has no problem playing max settings some newer titles you can run 1080p maybe some settings need to be medium/high (more in benchmarks)

Here we have the keyboards many variety of colors

Lid backlights orange looks nice but you wont see it when playing also the metal backing can be a finger print magnet

here we can see the touchpad has a good size to it you can get a rough idea of where the buttons are but personally i prefer solid buttons

asus rog gaming center application sorry its hard to read but theres a massive limit on resolution for photos but you get the idea

Cons

Loud when under gaming due to only 1 fan cooling cpu and gpu (irony is the cpu runs hotter then the gpu (pascal ftw) anyways enough of the jokes it gets up to about 48decibles when fan is on max settings if you leave it on auto it gets only a couple hundred rpms below max so expect around 44 decibles while gaming noticeable in the room but if you have a game going or noise cancelling headset you wont hear it at all

that's the only actual con from observation besides minor backlight bleed near top left only noticeable when screens black (could of returned it but i seen many people did the same thing and got one worse then it was before and i dont notice it overly so i was ok with it

Benchmarks

3d mark firestrike dx11 as follows (defualt settings)

6 214 IN Fire Strike (V1.1)

Graphics score 7 158  Graphics test 1 33.54 FPS Graphics test 2 29.03 FPS Physics score 9 122  Physics test 28.96 FPS Combined score 2 519  Combined test 11.72 FPS

feel free to compare those to your own results

3d mark Time spy DX 12 test

2 323 IN Time Spy (V1.0)

Graphics score 2 197  Graphics test 1 14.53 FPS Graphics test 2 12.44 FPS CPU score 3 447  CPU test 11.58 FPS once again feel free to compare with your own results

if you wish me to run a specific test or setting let me know or another benchmark of some sort

GTA 5 1080p fxaa on msaa x2 most settings set to high or ultra 57fps average if you want a exact rundown of settings if you own a 1050ti i can give them to you game looks very nice and runs well on that card as long as your cpu can handle it i recently talked to fellow admin darko6977 he recently bought a 1050ti also i gave him the exact settings i used and unfourtanitly his cpu APU A8-5500 Quad-Core creates a bottleneck he gets around 40fps avg with same gpu so if you want exact settings let me know

Starcraft 2 ultra settings 1080p max AA 70fps average    havent really tinkered with much other new/semi new titles

Other thoughts stuff worth noting and a mix or pros/con and other stuff i havent mentioned

speakers arent bad they nicely fill a room on loudest setting and it does not degrade quality wise or sound distorted on highest settings of course theyre not as good as a expensive headset or a 5.1 surround sound but they are good overall

same size keyboard as the 15.6 inch model its nice and roomy but in my mind why not take advantages of the extra size??

power button beside print screen button really asus?? im not even going to explain why thats a bad idea lol (image below)

back cover is not friendly I wanted to upgrade my hdd immediately to a 2tb removed all screws at back and the whole back plate still doesn't budge I was afraid of breaking it so I changed my mind quick wish it had a dedicated little cover for hdd and ram etc

some of this was just nitpicking a little

Final thoughts

Overall i think this laptops great it feels like a premium product people see this and think it costs 3000 but it costs half of it it looks really expensive wanted the 1060 version of but that came around $400 more expensive then this one already was yikes is this laptop worth a buy? im going to be honest and say cautionary depending on your needs with this laptop alot of your money is spent for features and oh it has them its very nice however for a little bit more money if your a performance person there are other laptops from other manufactures that have 1050ti models for way cheaper and 1060 models for slightly more money they wont have all the features or customizable led lights or aluminum air brushed finish on back but this laptop costs a premium   so realistically if you want to save a few bucks dont care about features and aesthetics go for something else   if you want something that looks premium and feature loaded and dont mind paying more this is a beautiful option    so theres my honest review if you have any questions about anything feel free to type it in the comments thanks for reading

It's a good review and all, but if i may suggest something, try to use commas or full stop from time to time? I feel like i'm listening to a guy who talks so fast i can't understand what he's saying.
