I suspected that much you are very intelligent and constantly proving that overclocking your fx 6300 makes it a more than relevant CPU(gd should have noticed ocing your processor puts it in anothe league).. From one major to another continue what you do regardless of. You will make a fine engineer. and if you have not mastered c++ yet stop trying and master objected oriented programming concepts and then go back to c++..

C++ and OOP languages are both equally relevant, but they are used for in two different areas, it's up to him what he wants to learn, my question is how are you sure he is studying c++?

well C is a waste of time if you are planning on pursuing Game Development, though for micro-controllers on the other hand it's the best NON-script language.

C is a powerful language C++ is better because of oop. @Psychoman anyone who does computer science does c++.@Atsam01 get a head start on oop concepts you will not regret it…

I started with assembly due to me studying hardware architecture, but as it was hardware architecture the focus was much more on well the hardware architecture. Then I moved to C++ for a few months and well I can't say I didn't like it, but NOT my cup of tea.

Now I'm studying C#(primarily) and Java(secondary) as they have similar syntax, similar concepts and in many cases work the same way and am in my 3rd semester/module in a private software university(as in my country you can NOT get into a public one until you have finished school, even if you take their exams at 8, they will wait until you finish the dumb school). And after I'm done with C# and Java, I will do some JavaScript as I'm taking a secondary course in CSS and HTML atm, so yeah, practical programming is my thing. :D

Start with first learning the oop concepts and learn something like java it is based on c and is obj-ori… then after get into programming in engines. polymorphism, design patterns, etc….

well before he reaches polymorphism he really ought to learn what a class and interface is.

here this little brick contains everything from the ground up to a really good level, after which you will have to read on more advanced topics(which I myself have NOT reached yet,, but am quite close) and design patterns and good coding standards and habits, plus design for specific software, in your case games.

Also for gaming, there are many books on many engines, most engines are different, but if you know their concepts and what you want them to do the rest is easy peasy from engine to engine.

@Psychoman oop concepts contain all the basics (syntax(programming language)) will have to be learned and so on and I just stated some high level concepts that he can start looking into. & C structures should give him a good idea.

Nice results, I have to give it to my old fx 6300 it handles that gtx 1060 like a champ(even though it's overclocked).

Too bad that battlefront 2 is a 60$ castrated version of BF1, 60$ pay-to-win mobile game with pay-to-win cards and boxes and whatever and will have even less content than BF1 at launch… -_-

But hey it's 3D models look like star wars and the melee characters look like characters from star wars, so sadly people will buy it… -_-

bf3 and bf4 are amazing, but their optimization was bad and they had bugs, cuz they were done both on brand new engines and both were the first games they developed on those new engines.
