Cheapest entry point into PC VR ?
Written by: ronweasley - 13:25 Oct-11-2017

Hello,

I was reading up a bit on Ryzen and I couldn't help but notice that AMD is toting Ryzen 3 as VR ready. Is this claim true and if so will the core i3 8100 also be VR ready ? Also is there any hardware restriction to the steam VR platform or even store bought games ?

And....

How low can you go in terms of price to build a VR ready PC (and also buy the HMD ) ?

I just ran VRMARK Orange Room (3dmark.com) & got a score of 4000. 3716 is the minimum score required for oculus rift according to it. Therefore, mah machine is VR-capable but could someone donate me an oculus rift to confirm? ;)

The entry point is a quad core CPU roughly as powerful as an I5-4590(my CPU)…. I think the Ryzen 3 1300X and the I3-8100 should both fit the bill there…. the lower clocked Ryzen 3s I'm not sure about, atleast not without some overclocking.
