Ehhh….. really it was the 8-bit 8088 that put Intel on the map in regards to PCs, not the 8086….. also I think if you're going to do a "special anniversary" edition based on an old chip…. you should at the very least make an effort to make it look atleast somewhat like the old chip….. the color and writing for example.

actually, it was the Intel 74181 ALU that put Intel on the map(first commercial, widely available ALU in a chip), everything else just made them bigger and more popular.

I said in regards to PC……. Intel also created the first microprocessor in the Intel 4004 in 1971, I left that and the 74181 out because neither of those are what made intel what they are today, PC is what made Intel huge, and the 8088 was their first leap into that market(atleast commercially)

putting someone on the map means giving them a great start… as I said the rest made them bigger and MORE popular.

If someone else made the first ALU in a chip for mass consumption they would have been in intel's place right now.

but I'm NOT arguing, it's a fact. Intel was funded and was known due to their commercial and widely available 74181 ALU in a chip, the first of its kind, which allowed them to make everything else in the future.

Had another company been successful in producing such ALU then they would have been on the map and NOT intel and intel beat the competition of different universities, companies and so on only by a couple of months, so if their ALU in a chip failed then they wouldn't have made the, 4004, 8086 and 8088 and so on…

For the record…. you have a far different interpretation of "putting something on the map" than I do…… to me, that statement means the thing that got you notice and recognition, NOT where you started….. so I'll just agree to disagree.
But seriously man, like every post on this site has a reply from you disagreeing or correcting someone about something or another…… calm down bro! xD

How they say it to me is 88 6. You skip the zero when reading electronics code…
