Dawnguard Released
Written by: alt639 - 13:23 Jun-28-2012

Without much of an affair, Skyrim's Dawnguard DLC was released quietly to the Xbox 360 legion. Now we all have to wait one month, thanks to Microsoft's timed-exclusivity deal, much like Apple with Thunderbolt.

So what does Dawnguard bring to the table for all the Dovahkiin's out there. Without giving away too much, let's have a look at what we get for our $20...

First of all, Bethesda promises that Dawnguard will add 20 hours of new content to Skyrim. After that, we get an epic quest line and some really juicy stuff, like crossbows, new armor and weapons, and castles. The side-effect of this is also great. The new resources that Bethesda used to create the content will be available in the Creation Kit, so expect the number of castle mods to climb steadily.

A number of people though will be disappointed as Dawnguard doesn't take us outside of Skyrim and a new plane of Oblivion. Much speculation was generated before details on Dawnguard was released. Many thought that we would return to Cyrodiil or Vvardenfell, or perhaps go to a new area unexplored since the days of Arena. However, this isn't the case but hope remains that future DLC will open new areas of Tamriel to explore.
