Borderlands 2 will have DirectX11, PhysX
Written by: alt639 - 13:54 Jul-16-2012

The upcoming Borderlands 2 has many gamers eagerly awaiting it's launch. Gearbox has now added an extra incentive for PC gamers.

As detailed in a raunchy and humorous letter from Claptrap, we PC gamers are being treated with a bevy of exclusive features...

First and foremost will be the inclusion of DirectX11 powered effects. HBAO and dynamic Bokeh DoF should be present. Textures will also be higher resolution than those on console versions. A FOV slider will be present, along with the option to use FXAA for antialiasing.

Gearbox has also stated that offline LAN support will be included for the PC edition as well. A few other features will be present as well, such as PhysX support for those with Nvidia GPUs. 3D support will also be available. The letter can be found at this link: http://www.borderlands2.com/loveletter/?x

Not actually, just nVidia marketing really :(

Well, yeah, it's NVIDIA marketing (it doesn't pretend to be anything else), but it's still cool to see how PhysX will be used in Borderlands 2.

Just some wasted performance on a few floating things and stuff falling 'realistically' :D :D

See, I'm a sucker for game physics. The first game I remember playing that had a noticeable physics engine was Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. The first time I saw a ragdoll fall over, I couldn't believe my eyes. Hitman 2's physics are pretty archaic by today's standards, but ten years ago I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing after 20 years of playing games with pre-rendered animations. This addiction to physics is why I have to have NVIDIA cards; even though PhysX does not make or break a game, I still find it very cool.

Ya :D I hope they implement it well, I can imagine four guys sitting next to each other all using the same keyboard would be awful :D

More than likely yes, I don't know if it will be configurable in-game or not, but it should be :D
