Alright then, but don't forget to install the AMD Media Codec Package if you haven't already done that ;) It's about the ATI Avivo (HD) video playback acceleration and it's perfect for 60p motion :D

This Computer has a Pentium 4 and it likes to be around 43 idle and 48-51 In heavy gaming load and such. And this is with lowering fan speeds to a comfortable noise level.

That's just awesome, is it a hyper-threaded P4? ;)

The 3.06 Ghz Pentium 4 is HT I believe. What does that do anyway? Isn't that like simulating a dual core? And the computer I'm using before a newer one comes in. It would be nice to have an i5 :)

Yes, it is → hyper-threading means that the amount of threads (logical processors) is two times the amount of processor cores. In your case, your P4 has one core and two threads, meaning that the core cache and external interface is shared between the 2 logical processors. It takes care for making use of the CPU's total capacity/potention and max. possible would be a not so bad 30% performance gain :)

Ok, that i3 also is very nice, but a quad core i5 like the 2500 would be much better ;)

Thanks for the links Mark, it's very helpful having repositories like this that are compiled by people I trust. Do you think you could add descriptions for the individual items, like a quick sentence describing their function?

Ah I see, I just thought it would be more helpful for users who aren't privy to the meanings of things like RivaTuner, Everest, or SplashPRO. Kindness is king, there is no reason to be mean on the internet :D

00:30 Jul-29-2012

Sure, whatever you want :D and when I'm off the internet, I'm the same as when I'm on, except when people ask annoying questions or try to challenge my computer knowledge because they just figured out what Intel manufactures ;)

I have a friend like that, he is deluded enough to believe that his Radeon 6570 is a solid competitor against my 670 :D however we should keep this on-topic out of respect for Mark.

00:47 Jul-29-2012

Just wanted to take the precautionary stance, as I don't want to sully a thread meant for software-related discussions. Some of my friends are like, "Bro, can you fix my laptop, it's performing slow" and then I see it and it has a first-gen Atom processor with integrated graphics. Some of my friends also tried to impress me by saying that they love i7 processors, and then I asked them a question about a specific detail of it and they can't tell me, like how much L3 cache it has :D

Ok, great, but you should really try Splash Pro with Ati Avivo ;) I've got the licensed version and I'm so happy with it: even with 60p 1080p motion technology my CPU utilization is 40 - 50% average....without the great motion technology I stream 1080p HDs with a CPU utilization between 5 - 10% with my C2D E8400....MPC HomeCinema can't (25% average) beat that, making use of the K-lite HD codecs :D
