Hey guys, Roley here with my first experiance of Day Z, a muliplayer mod for the ultra realistic military sim ARMA 2.
This mod puts the player through what i can only descirbe as the ultimate survival horror experiance, it's an awesome combination of classic Resident Evil meets GTA IV.
Think 28 Days/Weeks later and you're not far off what this mod is all about.
Now lets get into the game itself, my character appears on what i can only describe as a desolate beach, no weapons,no map, no compass, no drinks and no food,
just a small daysack, a bandage or 2 with a torch and some flares.
I haven't got a clue as to where i am or where to go but i set off under the cover of darkenss inland to explore the surronding wooded areas.
Having wondered aimlesssly for about 5-10 mins i finally see a small built up area amongst the distant trees, i'm excited as i start to close in on the small village.
I'm no longer running but crouched down edging towards the nearest building , a large barn with wide open doors, i'm within 50 metres when STOP! ....... a figure appears.....i dive to the floor,
It's not walking but squating down and stubbling in the door way, it's like a scene from the Ring, i wait and watch the figure slowly move away and towards the fence to my distant right, i wait till it's out of sight and then begin to crawl up to the building whilst observing all around, i'm within 10 metres of the barn and i notice more movement around the outskirts of the abandoned building and worse i can hear the grumblings of the dead as i approach.
I make it to the doorway and peer inside .......FOOD and various other items, i need to be quick and scuttle over to pick up the Beans, Revoler ammo and Shotgun shells, the moans of the dead seem to be closing in, i don't dare go out the way i came in so i creep further into the barn.
A small door to my left, i edge in and spot more goodies, Flares and a LEE ENFIELD!!!! i dash over and pick up the weapon and items, i've got no ammo for it but it's a start.
Now to escape, unable to go out the way i've came i approach the only other door that leads outside , the growels and snarls of the approaching undead are unbearable as i'm still unarmed.......SOD IT!!!!
I burst out through the door and run for it , i'm spotted by the undead who give chase, screaming and whaling behind me,I make a dash for the nearest wood and dodge between the trees till i can no longer hear the cries of the dead, i stop to get my breath back to look at my treasure.
I eat the beans and wonder..... now all i need is water and ammo.
I have never experianced a game so tense and this is only the beggining, I'm yet to meet any other players and what will my intentions be when i do ?
Attempt to team up and go Co-Op or murder them in cold blood with an axe for their goods?
The possibilities are endless with this game and i will continue to explore, adapt and survive :D
This is Part 1 , i will continue with a part 2
Oh and a final note,
when you're dead , you're DEAD !!!!!
