The AS Val could be considered the most under-rated gun in BF3. The reasons for this is it's got a max damage of 20 which is 5 damage lower than the assault rifles; it's max damage drops at 6ft at 40ft it's max damage is only 18.4 so you need to get 6 shots into your target if they are 40ft away. 

The reload speed isn't that bad with a round left in the chamber it takes 1.60 seconds to reload with a the chamber empty it's 2.70 seconds so that makes it the fastest reloading PDW.

That doesn't make it to bad. Does it.....Shame it kind of does; yes it has a fire rate of 900rpm which beats all most all the assault rifles and only ties with the AEK. So at the moment you're most likely thinking I can use it as a close combat gun. Think again it's only got a 20 round mag and has a fire rate of 900rpm so it takes 1.33 seconds to fire the magazine; you can get the extended magazine which then gives to 30 rounds, so it now takes 2 seconds to fire the magazine. That's good but having a look it's got the worst hip fire states, the 2nd highest vertical recoil for PDWs and the 4th highest horizontal recoil, so that puts it out of the question for close combat.

OK so it doesn't look to bright now for the AS Val high recoil, Poor hip fire and I didn't mention it's poor muzzle Velocity at 333m/s; so you're going to have to be good at leading to hit a moving target at range while being able to pull of head shots all the time, which if you can do you have some god like power. 

ATTACHMENTS

The gun has a fixed suppressor so that puts the barrel option out; so you can now only have two attachments, bearing in mind it's got a high fire rate and a low magazine size, you're going to want to use the extended magazine for it. Before you unlock the extended magazine you could use the laser sight to give it that bit extra to hip fire, then it doesn't perform too bad but you'll run out of ammo FAST. so now you have only got one attachment slot left and that's the sights; the iron sights aren't too bad on it but you're going to want to use a sight for it, remember it has a low velocity so the 12x, 7x, 6x, 4x and the 3.4x sights are really out of the question for this gun. So you've only got the holographic, KOBRA, IRNV and reflex sights left; as the holographic is a 1.5x it's not a sight that should be used but could be used for it, so now the last sights left are what you like more.  

How the gun should be fired and one important thing to talk about

So we've talked about the AS Val not being a close combat favorite and long range favorite; so it's more a mid range gun because of the high recoil the gun has so you're going to have to burst fire in bursts of 5 rounds max. just like any other gun burst fire at range but if you fire this gun with 2-3 shots per burst it can be used as a long range gun if your target is standing still. You have an enemy standing still taking his time shooting at your team; he doesn't see so can fire 3 or even 4 rounds at him because of one thing that makes this gun unique. It's the accuracy of the first round the leaves the chamber, we all know sniper rifles have great accuracy for the first round that leaves the chamber but what if I tell you the AS Val beats all sniper rifles in this state...You're most liking thinking now C-Dogs gone mad which in all honesty is fair, I thought the same when I heard about this. So what is the accuracy of the first round that leaves the chamber it's 100% so if you see a target with in the range before the bullet stops you'll hit him where ever you sight is pointed at him. That's awesome so you Can fire the first round straight at his head and do 2x the damage at the range and not have to worry if it's going to miss (this only counties if the target is standing still or if you can lead very well with this gun, you just have to then fire a couple of bursts of 2-5 rounds and the target will be down. 

I've taken enough of your time now solider there's one last thing you should know

When you start to use this gun you'll notice how quickly you burn through the ammo you have for the AS Val, the class you will want to play as would be the support class so you can throw ammo down when ever you need it and not have to worry about where is someone who can give me ammo. Saying this the gun would make a great aggressive recon as it's got a suppressor so you'll be undetectably.Using this gun as a medic/engineer would require a good team that plays their class roles.
