The game industry should grow up, according to David Cage. The CEO of Heavy Rain is annoyed about the fact that most games are focused on a younger audience and refuse to release more mature content.

He says it's a matter of dare.

"I think we should have more courage in our industry and take more risks, because I think this is what the industry needs now. I mean, how many first-person shooters can you make? How many monsters/aliens/zombies can you kill in games? There's a moment where we need to grow up." Clear words from D. Cage.

Cage calls this the "Peter Pan Syndrome". Earlier he already stated the industry would die without new ideas and innovation. The industry is choosing the safety zone by aiming at a younger audience and fitting content. He says this mentally is not right and will be a disaster for the industry. Cage is pretty well known for his criticism on the industry.

Currently Cage is working on the project called Beyond: Two Souls. It's a story-game coming out for the Playstation 3. The focus will be on emotions, maturity and unique content. Heavy Rain has released already and is known for these aspects as well.

A upcoming, high-profile title with a mature story is Far Cry 3 and its safe to say that many people are looking forward to this game, is that because the story is meant for a more mature audience?
