Hello GD'ers!
As most of you have noticed, the blog area has been updated with the ability to hold events. So lets have the first annual massive GD super fun competition event! Thanks to Warmice for the awesome banner.
The rules are simple; I'll ask a new question each week for a number of weeks and you'll have 5 days to send in your answer to me. And remember, even admins are allowed to participate.
Only one answer per person and your first answer counts, so please double-check before sending it. For those of you thinking of setting up another GD user account to get extra trys, please don't as we can tell. You will be disqualified from the competition and make Felix very sad.
If and when I get lots of correct answers, I'll randomly select the winner.
I will let you know who the winner is here every week. I will aim to do so on Saturday at around 18:00 GD time, shortly before posting up the next weeks question.
What is there to win?
The weekly winner gets a free gift from GD. The prize will get better and better as the competition advances. How cool is that?
And that's not all, when the competition reaches fruition, a number of weeks from now, as well as the normal prize the member with the most correct answers gets an awesome extra gift.
So without further ado... Here's the first question:
Week 1 (1st Sept 2012)
Question 1: When is Game Debates birthday?
Answer 1: 7th November, 2008
Winner 1: Amekdala
Prize 1: A free game from Steam, chosen by the winner from the 'Under £4' section and free access to the exclusive GD Premium area for a week.
Week 2 (8th Sept 2012)
Question 2: Which member has the most articles published and how many has he/she published?
Answer 2: Squee with 112 articles
Winner 2: Hamza416
Prize 2: A free game from Steam, chosen by the winner from the 'Under £5' section and free access to the exclusive GD Premium area for a week.
Week 3 (15th Sept 2012)
Question 3: Who was the first GD admin appointed by Felix?
Answer 3: Pip
Winner 3: xCocoNut
Prize 3: A free game from Steam, chosen by the winner with a value of less than £6 (or $10 US) and free access to the exclusive GD Premium area for a week.
Week 4 (22nd Sept 2012)
Question 4: In 40 words or less - Why should GD support indie developers? Please keep your answers private. The answer that is most creative/accurate/compelling or just darn funny will win. We don't expect everyone to be literary geniuses but we do expect everyone to have a go ;) I suggest running your text through a spellchecker.
Answer 4: There were no incorrect answers this time.
Winner 4: MNour
Runner ups: Pip and Terminaato
Special prize: Divayth
Prize 4: The winner will get the new and awesome indie title, Faster Than Light. FTL was donated to Game-Debate by Justin Ma (FTL Indie Dev) for this very competition, plus the winner gets a copy of the latest Humble Bundle 6!
As we are expecting lots of great answers this week we will be giving 2 people a runners up prize. Both runners up will receive a copy of the Humble Bundle 6 as well! How cool is that?
The Humble Bundles are courtesy of our very own awesome sponsor Supercolleydog, so be sure to thumb him up when you see him about. Thanks buddy!
Week 5 (29th Sept 2012)
Question 5: Which was the first official GD review to score 10 out of 10 and who wrote it?
Answer 5: Plants vs. Zombies by seebaruk
Winner 5: saviour
Prize 5: A free game from Steam, chosen by the winner with a value of less than £7 (or $12 US or 9 EUR) and free access to the exclusive GD Premium area for a week.
Week 6 (6th Oct 2012)
Question 6: How many members "in total" do we have on GD that have 1 rank point or more? The person to get the closest at the time of competition close, but not go over the amount, wins.
Answer 6: 156324
Winner 6: Terminaato
Prize 6: I am proud to announce that the awesome people over at the publishing house, Iceberg Interactive have taken an interest in our GD Big Competition and offered to throw some prizes our way. This weeks winner will get a copy of the recently released and amazing 4x Space Strategy, Endless Space - donated by our buddies at Iceberg Interactive.
Week 7 (13th Oct 2012)
Question 7: This time we'll do this a bit differently. I want you to draw Felix as a game character. You can use any software and even draw it by hand if you prefer. The picture can be in any common picture format (jpg, png and so on) and preferably not bigger than around 200 kB. Upload the picture to an online picture service and whisper the link on my profile or send the picture directly to my email. You don't have to be a master at drawing to win this one, just put Felix in a funny/legendary situation as a game character.
Answer 7: There were no wrong answers this week.
Prize 7: Our buddies at Iceberg Interactive are back at it again - this time they provided us with two games! The winner will get a copy of Blades of Time and Endless Space - courtesy of Iceberg Interactive.
This is the moment you've all been waiting for, time to announce the winner. I received 10 awesome pictures and after careful deliberation, our panel of experts decided this weeks winner...
Winner 7: Milaor270 and the winning image submitted here
Amekdala, blackkiller705, DayZFPS, JinKazuha, Pip, pixelatorlol, samtan, seebaruk,
Here's the next question:
Week 8 (20th Oct 2012)
Question 8: What game does Tero relentlessly encourage people to play AND in November last year what game did Felix constantly tell you to buy? You must answer both questions correctly.
Answer 8: You all should know that Tero loves to push his classic favourite Fallout 2 and in November last year Felix wrote a review for Skyrim where he told everyone to "Buy Skyrim" throughout the review.
Winner 8: This week a copy of Endless Space and Killing Floor goes to TaheRookie! and in second place is Raahil123 winning Killing Floor. Gratz!
Contact Felix to receive your winnings and please remember to add your FPS to GD as it is a real help!
Prize 8: Iceberg Interactive loves GD so much they have decided to offer a copy of Endless Space, their recent hit sci-fi blockbuster, as an extra prize every week of our competition! It's Halloween so they've supplied us with two copies of the Indie scare fest - Killing Floor. One goes to the winner (who also gets Endless Space) and we'll draw a runner up who gets the other copy, all for Halloween! Now everyones happy about that, right!
Week 9 (27th Oct 2012, Halloween)
Question 9: Take a look at the following image and tell us the name of the recent spooky themed DLC it is from. Its that simple!

Answer 9: Sleeping Dogs: Nightmare in North Point
Prize 9: Iceberg Interactive offer a copy of the excellent Endless Space, their recent hit sci-fi blockbuster! We are also giving up an adventure treat, The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Testament of Sherlock, reviewed favourably by Seebaruk recently. The winner will also get a weeks access to the Premium Area.
Winner 9: H0rsey is the winner, Congratulations! Please get in touch with Felix and remember to add your FPS for the games you have won.
Week 10 (3rd Nov 2012, The Final!)
NEW RULES for your final week answers
1. Create a blog and call it "[Your username] GD 2012 Big Comp Final Answers"
2. You can add as many answers in your blog as you can think of, including supporting pictures if you want.
3. Number each answer in your blog to help separate them.
4. If there is not a correct answer then the funniest or most creative answer will be selected.
5. Do not copy anyone elses answer. If you do it will make me very sad and I will disqualify you :(
This last question is a tough one, but have lots of goes in your blog anyway, one of them may actually be correct.
Question 10: When GD was first built, why did Muse insist that the GD website theme colour be dark/black and the site background be black?
Answer 10: Black, on a monitor display uses less energy. By having the website mainly black it is better for the environment and cheaper for our visitors. That is the sort of person that Muse is. She is amazing!
Prizes 10
Iceberg Interactive offer a copy of the excellent Endless Space, their recent hit sci-fi blockbuster!
A copy of Deponia (Seebaruk loved this)
A copy of Deadlight (Squee loved this)
Plus a weeks access to our lovely Premium Area.
This weeks winner is chosen at random, because I loved all the imaginative answers
Winner 10: The winner is ORATANE. Gratz buddy, you have won those 3 games!!
Overall Big Comp winner 2012: After adding up all the correct answers throughout the whole competition I can see that there are actually 3 people who pulled out to the top. And its no surprise to know that they are also among the most active people on the site. So we can say that the system seems to work. Yay!
The Overall prize for the winner is any game from Steam, a copy of the amazing Endless Space from Iceberg Interactive and the full 9 game Indie Humble Bundle bumper pack.
The three candidates are Amekdala, TaheRookie and Pip. So who has won.....
Muse herself will announce the winner later via a public shout and a message here.
Thanks to everyone for taking part, its been awesome fun and I hope you guys have all had fun too. Big love from me and lots more cool things still to come with GD, our second home.
