Should I upgrade my graphics card?

Postby Scott5619 » Sat Aug 04, 2012 8:45 pm

I recently bought a new computer (on a budget so it isn't amazing), primarily for gaming. However I didn't do enough research and found that my graphics card, an Asus ATI Radeon 6450 HD 1GB, is actually not that good. I'm wondering if I should upgrade it and if so, to what? As I spent relatively little on the rig itself, I am prepared to spend about £50-£175 on it. I have a 500watt PSU. Also, this is my first post so please correct me if I have have done anything wrong or you require more info.

Many thanks

I agree with reaper the HD7850 is probably your best choice. Be sure to check you PSU though as you might need to upgrade that too.

I would go with HD6950 if it would be my choice though, but you make the decision

The 7850 performs like the 6970 and it uses less power and it is newer tech. So the 7850 is a better performing card.

I have to agree. I bought a MSI R7850 2GB GDDR5 Power Edition and even in conjunction with my i3 530 I can run all games on Ultra settings at 1280x720 resolution. (AA on 4x though).

I love the feature it has to blow the dust out before sucking in cold air on bootup too.
