Why is Skyrim so laggy?

Hey Guys!
I have been playing Skyrim lately (great game btw), but it is lagging terribly.
I know the requirements are pretty high, but according to GB I should be able to play on medium (to high - which is of course very unlikely) settings.
I am playing on low settings (turned down everything to low) with a 1680x1050 resolution, but in many situations it is still laggy as hell. What is also weird, is that it lags more inside rooms, houses, dungeons and so on, then outside in Skyrim.
Why is this so? What can I do to improve the performance?

Hello.
Your rig should indeed be able to play Skyrim V at medium smoothly. Do you have the latest drivers installed? Is this only happening with Skyrim V?

Actually now that you say it, I chcecked LA Noire's reqs, and according to GD it should be playable on med too, but I have all the settings on "Performance" and it still lags a lot. And also Crysis 2.
Didn't try many new games other than these. NFSHP runs great, although there are few moments where it hangs a bit.

Yep, all up to date, except for my printer, which is not relevant I suppose. xDD

I meant the GPU Drivers (obviously). Have you tested those games with previous releases?

Not sure I understand what you mean. Previous versions of the drivers?

Yes.

These are the drivers which have many versions.

So you are saying that maybe older drivers will run the game better?

I think you should check your GPU temps while running the games. That should give a bit of a clue. It might be time for a fresh windows install also.
