Does this CPU fit on this Motherboard?

Postby mempol » Tue Sep 20, 2011 7:22 pm

I have an Asus M4A785TD-M EVO, and let my eye fall on an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T.
But, does it fit?

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM ... _EVO/#CPUS

I don't see your cpu on that list though...

Yes ;) because I have also Asus MB and I have very similar problem - in supported list there were models with lower freq. but not mine CPU - and it runs like a charm :)

you can always go for the 1090t just to be safe. and just overclock the 1090t in 0.1 , it will be both cheaper and more safe to go with a CPU that is in the comptaability list.
but if you do choose it they problay didnt add the x6 1100t because it got out after the 1090t and all the other x6 line.

Yes.. It will fit perfectly with no problems at all..

The X6 1100T is just an enhanced version of the X6 1090T (since they mentioned it in the CPU list).. They have the same CPUID. The only difference is the 1100T has a higher clock than the 1090T by 100 MHz (or 0.5 more in the clock multiplier with Bus speed of 200 MHz) and newer revision "core stepping".

To Summarize the above, You are ready to go ;)

Hm...How much difference does 100MHz even make?
My dad says it's nearly not noticable.

yes its hardly not noticaable but if you got the money why not go for the best??
(the 1090t offers a x16 multiplier while the 1100t offers a x16.5 , the diffrence is almost unnoticable)
so if your tight on money get the 1090t or a x4 965. both of them offer the same exprience with gaming and only high end multithreaded apps can feel an improvment from the additional 2 cores

@mempol

Yes, 100 MHz is not noticeable at all... You can either go with the X6 1090T or the X4 960T/965.

The Extra 2 cores won't make a difference in gaming at all. There is no game until now utilizes all of the 4 cores. If you care about recording, 4 cores will be enough as well.. (That is just for gaming)

If you use highly demanding applications, like video editing HD movies and Recording Audio/Band stuff. The extra 2 cores will make a difference especially in rendering HD movies (rendering is not like watching).

So the choice is yours..
