I went to order the computer today at a store tht builds computers. After sitting down with him he decided on

-AMD Llano A6 X4 3650 4MB Cache 2.6GHz 100W Socket FMI(AD3650WNGXBOX)
-Asus F1A75-M AMD A-& E2 FM1 A75 FCH HUDSON D3 DDR3 USB 3.0 SATA MATX RETAIL (F1A75-M)
-8GB DDR3 13331 KIT
-SEAGATE 500GB Recert SATA HD
-LG SATA DVDRW
-Coolermaster CM690II Advance
-Coolermaster Extreme Power 700w power supply
-Windows 7 64bit

All for 789.87$

Questions - Good Price?
Good Parts? Comments? Would you change anything?

Note: The grafix card he recommended to wait and buy the new AMD 7000 series which comes out soon

thx again.... going to check prices on newegg now

Alright, bad parts and price. You should have gotten a Phenom II cpu and a 500-600 watt PSU not a 700, you dont need that if your not getting like a GTX 580 and that may still be overkill. That facts that you spent almost 800$ saddens me the most. You could have gotten the same specs for like 450-500$.

Is that price including tax? Because it is kind of high and that computer is not very powerful especially for programming. Basically you have chosen some parts that are for an ultra budget gaming pc but some parts are not. Also the PSU is ultra overkill.

I hate to say it but it kind of sounds like the guy doesn't really know what he is talking about.

An FM1 socket nowadays? Bad move, also about the gpu i would bet my leg that cpu wont use its potential (depending on the card model that is)

The PSU is too strong? whats my watage right now? even with a new gpu that he suggested to get?

I have no idea what an FM1 socket does so train the trainee lol :)

what parts should I question him about and why? btw they really didnt like the asrock z68 boards at all that you suggested, also that the i5 per buck isn't good...

O and was with tax... cananadian taxes are horible :D

End question... What is overclocking ?

thx. I have until monday to finalize the order, i checked the prices on newegg though and I'd save $150-shipping cost(no free shipping?) doing it myself

Its not the question of liking. You cant say something isnt good because you dont like it (by you i mean whoever you were reffering to in your post). The i5-2500k is a beast of a cpu and very much affordable and best bang for the buck in that budget range. AMD gpus are power efficient most of the time, but you cant be sure what wattage it will need because the card isnt out yet. Overclocking is a process in which you increase the performance of your cpu/gpu/ram by pushing the speeds over the factory settings to squeeze more power (reffer to guides if attempting). And 1 more thing. FM1 socket is outdated, and leaves no room for future upgrade, thats what i meant when i sad bad move.

Anything else feel free to ask.

ok let me rephrase that. He said the Asrock is unreliable and you could maybe get 2 years at the most out of it :(

So I should ask for the i5 ok. solid. now what else should i change besides the psu? and should i wait for the the gpu 7000 series. Cause I dont mind waiting a couple months.

You cannot say a company is unreliable. AsRock is under Asus (their little brother) only cheaper. If he doesnt like AsRock it just means sometimes you get a bad sample, it doesnt mean they are bad manufacturers. Before my current mobo i had an AsRock one for 6 years without any problems. Whoever suggested the board was thinking well about your wallet, and not bad for your pc. About the waiting issue, it cannot be decided for you. My personal opinion would be not to wait, since there will always be something better around the corner holding you back from buying something..
