i heard IVY-BRIDGE is coming out with windows 8 so its about Q3 of 2012 so you got some time...
and with your current rig the best gpu for it , is the 5670 and even less... the e2180 is good for windows but not gaming.

i5 2400
MSI H61 P43
Wintech DDR 3 1333 (8GB 2x4)/ or GSkill Ripjaws 1333
Good PSU, minimum Antec Earthwatts 430W...though a good 550W is better to consider.
GTX 560 Ti

Q2 2012, April/May.

Ivy bridge will only serve you good if a) want slightly better energy efficiency, b) Pci-e 3.0 support. Other than that it is only 10-15% gains over SB.

PCI E 3.0 will be very handy for the future and will give quite a performance boost over PCI E 2 when used with a PCI E 3 card.The new cpu,s will probably be better, but worth the money, thats is all up to you, the buyer!

The best cheap build;

i3 2100
H61 motherboard
8GB DDR 3 1333
Quality PSU
GTX 570

It will game like a beast for next to nothing.

I would not go with a dual core. I have a i5 650 dual core and in some games that are cpu intesive, my cpu does not keep up. reather get a cheap i5 quad core.
