My advice...do not get a celeron. What is your budget? I suggest a total upgrade or a 775 quad core. Getting a old dual core is not advisable. Rather save a bit more for a quad for your mobo or a new setup. Please give the rest of your rig? And also what you want to do with it? Game or to type and shit?

I don't know prices there so I would say try e7500 and up. E8400 is nice. Both are dual cores. Best remains a quad, but I think the q9xxx cpu's are more expensive.

I all those are too expensive, go with an E5xxx or better cpu, not celeron please!!!!

the q6xxx are quite ccheap in second hand shops and the q8300/8400 are also a good bargin. although an e7xxx are good enough for gaming if youre really on a tight budget

Yes. All those are 775 cpus. Try to look for cheap secondhand 775 quad core cpu like the q6xxx or better. Really will help prolong your lifespan of your pc

Yes. Go look at what your mobo supports. It should tell you. my 1156 mobo supports cpus that are both 32nm and 45nm.
