New Graphics Card

Postby larkj94 » Sun May 20, 2012 5:29 pm

I recently just got this computer: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-h3 ... 1-pdt.html and I am really pleased with it but one problem is the awful graphics card (56mb) isn't compatible or powerful enough to handle any games, even though the processor and RAM are. I was wondering, with a budget of around £100 what's the best graphics card I could get that is compatible with games like GTA IV, Max Payne, Sniper Ghost Warrior and the Battlefield series?

Edit: I need to be sure it's compatable with my PC as well

around the 100euro budget there are 2 cards that are good.
the GTX 460 or the HD 6850.
460 is a wee bit weaker then the 6850 and its more time in the market but some people prefer nvidia.
HD 6850 otherwise is a newer tech and offers lower heat and lower power consumption .
so choose whatever you like the best.

He'll have to check his PSU because I couldn't find anything on it and I think that will be the limiting factor.

If its 180W you will need to upgrade that too. You can check it to make sure by opening up your case. There should be a sticker on the PSU. Check the wattage and the number of amps on the 12volt rail. Look for something like this +12V@##A and check those numbers.

Isn't there any way I could just buy a 1gb graphics card that works on a low power?

Not with a 180W power supply. That has to get upgraded first.
