New laptop to run swtor

Postby Morendai » Mon Mar 12, 2012 9:19 pm

Hello i'm new in the community. Sorry if I'm not the first on this subject.
I'm wonder if you can help me to choose the best laptop considered the quality and price to play at swtor.
I've no choice I had to play on a laptop because I move very often in a month. I'd like to buy a new laptop to run swtor and my budget is about 1k. I've already looked for but I've not enough knowledge in that field. After my search, I'm not sure to take the good decision. I select some point of config I think I need for run in medium-high performances confortably:

Processor: Core i7
RAM: 8GB
Graphics: at least Nvidia GeForce GT540m (but i don't know very this part)
Memory: 500GB (i don't care) but at least 5000rpm

I don't need a big monitor from 11' to 15' (but what do you advice for play? maybe at my home I'll play on an external monitor), neither to run with 100ips, 30-40 is really fine, neither all the options at the max.
I try to find the best compromise between price and quality. I think I keep my laptop for over 3 years and I'd like it'll keep running games.
I think I can find a laptop with this brand: Asus,Dell, MSi,Toshiba, Alienware?

PS: Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks lot.

I went to a gamer shop and the retailer advised me to buy an Asus G53. Is it a good choice?

This configuration is basically like mine.

I wouldn't recommend buying a 540M right now. It would have been a good choice one year ago but right now, the gaming market is requesting more for even medium settings.
I think you should try and aim for a 640M. It should be just a little more expensive but it will deliver exceptionally good performance on DirectX 11 games, it will heat less and..well and that's it.
Every CPU out there is good enough for today's games so try to find a combination on which the CPU is not as good so you can spend more on the GPU.
