PC for games released from 2005-2009 call of duty, battlefie

Hey everyone... this is my first post here. :)

I have just paid for this custom made pc with the idea of occasional gaming in mind and will receive it on 21st Dec. I am interested in playing one-person shooter games which were releases during 2005,06,07,08 and 2009 (likes of Call of duty, Battlefield etc.) and that's what i kept in my mind while buying this built.

Can you guys, based on your knowledge advise me if i got a good deal and will this be good enough to play such games. I could not do much research since I was staying in Dubai for only 5 days and got this opportunity to buy tax free items from here. i will be flying out on 22nd Dec.

CPU Intel i3 3.10ghz socket 1155 US$115
Motherboard ASUS P8 H61/USB3 US$104
RAM DT 8GB 1333H (4X2) US$54
VGA ASUS GT520 NVIDIA 1GB US$67
LCD BANQ 19'' US$86
DVD-RW 32X by LG US$23
Basic Casing with 1 extra fan US$27
Total paid US$476/-

thanks all.

yeah the build is ok for it's price, but the cpu is an i3, thats just not good for gaming. I recommend you to buy a phenom II 955, if you can change it, but you have to change from mobo to, but thats not a problem, just buy a mobo with a AM3 socket, if you can change those things :)

The CPU is fine for a budget gaming rig. However the GPU is not really much of a gaming card more of a home theater card. You will have to make sure that many of the games aren't too demanding. I would recommend Battlefield 2 for multi-player and an older COD game for single player depending on which one you are interested in. For the price you got a pretty good deal though.

Guys, thanks for your replies and valueable comments.

Actually i opted for Intel i3 because it was US$85 cheaper than the i5 (at US$200). Also i thought that the games I want to play were released when we used to have core2duo processors so this second generation i3 should do the job well.

For GPU....it was like an instant decision I made. The sales guy showed me different cards. Some were way too expensive, so I asked him to stay under US$100. Then he showed me one ATI Radeon HD5450 2GB DDR3 DX11 DVI/HDMI and this ASUS NVIDIA GT 520 Silent - 1GB DDR3 - ENGT520 DVI/HDMI. I chose ASUS because it had this big heat sink fitted on top of it instead of ATI with fan, which i think will be much durable & will not demand cleaning every now and then. (not sure if my logic was correct) and I was informed by him that the overall performance of both of these cards is the same.

thanks again all.

Im pretty sure u can get a 5770 for ~100 bucks, if not 5670 is the next best choice. About the cpu, it performs as well as the phenom II 955 which is a quad, and even better in some games. The only "real" problem might come when future games require more physical cores than 2 so you will be fine dont worry.

good news guyz.

received my pc today on time. perfect!
just installed and played F.E.A.R (2005) for half n hour. Was smooth and fast. loved it. It was clearly evident that machine is much powerful than what the game requires.

now going to buy COD4 MW (2007) and will see how this will go.
