15gb of HD space? Is that on top of Empire, or only if you don't have it already? I mean, surely it can use some of Empire's assets if you have it, thus saving space for more po... more BBC iPlayer documentaries.

Its a total stand alone game, not an expansion. Like Rome Total War was despite using Medieval 2 tech.

Wow. I must be getting old, I remember when PCs came with around 20MB of hard disk space and even an entire OS took up a tiny fraction of that! I'm glad I went for the 1TB hard drive with my new rig now...

I downloaded the original Space Invaders from an Abandonware sight the other day and it was only a 1kb install (if I remember correctly)!

I still maintain my aghast mouth - I know it's a standalone game, but I'll get it through Steam as per my original Empire - I just can't believe it will need to download all those files again, especially given that some will probably be completely identical. Correct me if I'm wrong here but, just for example, don't all the Source engine games use the same central resources? Why can't all Total War games do the same?

Why can't everything be easy, eh?

It's a conspiracy! Creative Assembly are in league with the hard drive manufacturers!

Incidentally, I just googled Creative Assembly to make sure I was thinking of the right dev and there's a notice saying they're looking to hire an "Auction systems programmer." Ooer.
