also ive never seen the fx-6100 in action so i can only judge it by the specifications which are pretty darn good.
14 mb of total cache ,6 cores in the speed of 3.3 ghz with up to 4 ghz on turbo core , unlocked multiplier and being produced in the 32 nm line, all of that makes that cpu sound perfect on paper , so untill ill see some benchmark i can only judge it by the guts.
about the budget . its a pretty nice budget and i believe you can fit a core i5 2300/2400 with a good p67 /z68(future proofing)socket 1155 mobo(you can go with h61 if you want to save cash but i think you should get the p67/z68 so you could buy a core i7 2600k/a sandybridge-e cpu when the i5 2300 isnt enough) and it will be about 270 dollars too:
