Hello,

I am looking to upgrade my laptop, but i am a complete and total noob when it comes to hardware and components. I do not need a kick-ass holy shit system, but I would like to keep up with the times and have it run more modern games.

My current setup is
CPU: Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz
GFX: GeForce 9600M GT
RAM: 6GB

Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, and I apologize again if this is inappropriate for the forum.

It's not inappropriate or anything like that, But it is nice to see polite men like you .
And for the upgrade As far as i know i think it's almost impossible to change a gpu in a laptop. You should either get a new laptop or my my personal opinion is get a good desktop pc!

It is possible, but it depends from laptop to laptop. You need to know the manufacturer to find out (most of them allow only their cards to be placed). And its not a walk in the park let me tell you that... Think of it as open heart surgery. Another useful info is that laptop gpus cost a great deal more then their desktop counterparts. If you ask for my personal opinion, i would not dare to do it even tho i seen how its done and know partially the job. So SauceBoss's advice is a better option. Either buy a better laptop, or a desktop pc (i'd go with this). Hope we helped..

Sell that laptop and add that money to the money you whould have spent on the upgrade and get a new laptop or a desktop pc depending on your needs. Desktops are cheaper, can easily be upgraded and perform better. But I know sometimes a laptop is a must.

Like reaper said, I suggest u sell your laptop and buy a desktop so that you can upgrade it easier coz upgrading a laptop is a pain in the ass. Otherwise u need a better GPU coz im living with a Core2Duo 6400 @ 2.13 Ghz wich paid great 5 years now but my 9800GT is killing me
