Sold mah pc

Postby PapiFiveNine » Tue Oct 25, 2011 9:37 pm

So yea. Just a small update... I sold it coz i had to think about future proofing myself on the long run. And also because i sold it for the same money i bought it :)
Now im lookin at 2500k with a nice P67 board and Asus 6850HD Direct CU and everything else is the same as it was. So what changed?
2500k+P67+6850 from Phenom II 965+cheap am3+ and 560ti

Reasoning is simple. 2500k is insane, and will last a lot. Easier to upgrade a GPU (which i also wont need upgrading a while coz my resolution got smaller) then a CPU + a MoBo since AMD dissapointed me and i dont want to turn to them in the future... Whatcha think, did i make a mistake? Comment plz.

Try to get a z68 board if you can. Many more features.

Purchase was already made when i wrote this... The cheapest z68 i found is over the price i can afford and its a mATX which i dont prefer plus the asus direct cu is huuuge, its like 3 slots wide... And i dont really care bout features that much.

Since you've already purchased your parts, nothing what we say matters but I think upgrading from a quad to a quad and downgrading from a stronger to a less powerful GPU isn't what I'd recommend anyone.

My resolution got a lot smaller, the 6850 will handle everything to my preference. I did this because i will be able to afford an upgrade in like september 2012... 2500k will still be awesome then (and p67 will be ivy bridge ready), and with what i would replace the phenom when it ages? AMD dissapointed me i kinda didnt want to rely on them, and like i said, easier to upgrade a gpu then both mobo/cpu

Yes it would but im comparing current products as a fall back. What if Piledriver is as bad as Bulldozer compared to Sandy Bridge... Im comparing Piledriver with IvyBridge (theoretically ofc), and decided to trust intel more but your point is valid. Plus the 2500k will last me longer then the Phenom II i had leaving more cash for a gpu :)

Piledriver would be revised edition of Zambezi; may not be that bad. But who knows. Anyways, since you've said you 'Trust' Intel more, I can't say anything else because even I think that Intel is better, probably will be. With that being said, I still want AMD's glory days to return so that Intel has atleast one competitor.
