Radeon HD 6670 good for gaming?

Postby Kilokk » Wed Nov 23, 2011 8:21 am

Is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161386 good for gaming? i am still new to the pc gaming front (console gamer since i started gaming) so i apologize for the newb question...

My current rig is:

Mobo: Asus p5k
Memory: 4gb (upgrading to 8gb when i buy this card)
Video card: Geforce 8600 (yeah... this is why i am upgrading >.>)
CPU: Pentium Dual Core E5500 (thinking about upgrading to a core 2 quad q8400... thoughts?)
i am using a 750W power supply as well in this rig... am I good with this or should i get a new one?

upgrading a cpu to a dead end socket is smart if you got no budget at all but if you bite a bullet and get a nice rig with a pheonm II x4 840/955 (best options for budget consumers) and sell your old one for as much as people offer that would be nice.
also the 6670 is a good card but its not that strong , if you can fit a nice 6770/6850 in there you will have great exprience with it.

p.s what you planned to do originaly is great ! a core2 quad with q8400 with a 6670 will handle most games this days on medium and the simpler ones on high , although if you do go for a core 2 quad i say skip the q8xxx series and go to the q9xxx one's there much better.

Perhaps it would have been a good idea to say that my budget is very small ATM... That card OSS barely within it. Also might have helped to tell you that I am not switching to pc gaming I am still a console gamer (till the end of this generation at least) so I don't need the best of the best at all. Basically this PC is for skyrim and other games that I want mods in.

well then i based my opinion on bf3 which is currently the highest demanding game out in the market right now. you will get by in most games using a 6670 but if you want realy good perfomance for small peanuts then get a 6770 /6850 . with those cards you can set the game to the highest res you can possibly get and with that your gonna decrease the job on your cpu and leave it all on the gpu

The HD 6750 and HD 6770 are just renamed and modified from the HD 5700 series
It's good though, go check it out on youtube and you'll see it's performance, a good mid-end GPU that doesn't use too much wattage power... you'll be ok :)
