Poor Max, he just ain't getting the love he deserves.

No love for Bioshock 2 either. I've gone back to the first Bioshock, after failing to get absorbed in it the first time I played. I'm still not feeling though, have to admit. It's too damn easy and there's absolutely zero tension thanks to those cryo chambers, which seem to be in plentiful supply.

Creeping through darkened medical labs in System Shock 2, with the whimpers of crazy monkeys and zombified crewmates drifting from somewhere up ahead...now THAT was atmosphere. Bioshock comes close at times with the warped chatterings of Rapture's inhabitants, but often it's more comical than unsettling. Does Bioshock 2 actually come closer to SS2's tension?

I totally agree with you. I got half way through bio1 and lost momentum. Very pretty and nice new environment but I got distracted by other games. If Bio 2 is not offering anything new then I will give it a miss. However if anyone is looking for a AAA shooter, finished all the others on their list then I feel pretty safe in saying get 1 or 2 as they are great productions.

I'll probably vote for Bioshock 2 - it's an absolutely fantastic shooter, although I'm nowhere near the end of it yet. Dunno if its close to SS2 (never played it) but seriously, if you want a top drawer, out and out FPS - this is your game at the moment.

Having said that, Stalker: Call of Pripyat is incomparably better, but it's far more of an acquired taste - one that I've acquired so badly, my beard reeks of it from my Stalker slobber.

Bioshock 1, though, now that's a corker. Sure, it begins falls apart after THAT cut scene, but up to that point it's probably one of my fave games. It is stupendously easy if you leave the Vitachambers turned on though - turn 'em off in the options. Much more of a challenge then - you begin to actually plan Big Daddy battles instead of running at them with the wrench, screaming bloody blue murder.

Ohhh, you can turn the cryochambers off?? Nice one, I'll try that! It's my love of FPS's that keeps me going back, although the shootouts are a little clunky - aiming just seems too slow and bullets too ineffectual at times. Is the shooting much better in Bioshock 2?

Despite being a huge FPS fan, I never got around to playing Crysis - my rig was too slow when it came out. Worth a budget purchase you reckon, Nikos?

Yeah, the shooting's better in Bioshock 2, although it still feels a bit iffy. It is far more of a straight shooter than Bioshock 1 (I reckon anyway, but I'm only a few hours in - someone who has finished it may set me straight tough).

I love Crysis. Right up to the point that the aliens appear, then it goes downhill a bit. Which I suppose is quite realistic - I'd imagine everything would go downhill if a bunch of tetchy aliens appeared.
Still, I've played the first 2/3 of that game so many times cos it's so damn good - I keep going back. Definitely worth a budget purchase if you have a few spare Queen's heads. Warhead ran like a knackered dog on my PC though, which is odd considering it's meant to run better than the first one.

Cool. I'll stickthat on my list then, although I do still have stuff like Dragons Age to get through first, which I feel may last me 'til well into Summer and out the other end...

Plus I just started Metal Gear Solid 4, and although I've played it for 3 hours already, I've only actually 'played' it for about five minutes. I'm not lying, there's one bit where there's about 30 minutes of cutscene, then you finally get control and you run down a corridor, then you reach the end of the corridor and there's another fricking cutscene. Whyyyyy????

Best game of 2010 is going to be "Storm of War- Battle of Britain" ......if it ever emerges.

I mean with targets like this to shoot up on the ground, baddies like the Nazis and SPITFIRES what more could you want?..... Aliens?.....Zombies?????

Ok, I'll admit I'm an "IL2" junkie. For 3 years "IL2 Forgotten Battles" sat "forgotten" on my shelf after the sheer boredom and steep learning curve of the single player missions turned me off. It wasn't until someone in the "Mount and Blade" forums (another game for which I'm an unashamed fanboi) drew the parallel with Combat flight simming and medieval mounted fighting, that I dusted off my copy, got a better joystick and started dogfighting online via the "Hyperlobby". Now I gotta get my daily fix.
