Rate my PC specs / suggest upgrades?

Postby xombifier » Wed Feb 29, 2012 5:54 pm

Hey, I would like to get some feedback on my computer specs. It's fairly new, bought it for the performance, and I would like to know how others will rate it. Also, if you can, suggest what I could best improve for around $200.

Specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850
RAM: 8GB
PSU: 600W

first of all its a great pc! i would rate it 9/10 because it will run anything on high even on FHD res and it will still stay cool, but yet its not the best hardware in the market so i had to take a star out :(
also i dont think you need to upgrade your pc at all! but if you really want to then go sell your 6850 and with the spare money get a 570/6970.

1100T for all intents and purposes in day to day usage will match well with the 2500K, it is a nice chip. I would look to upgrade the GPU to something like a GTX560ti/6970, avoid a GTX570, very badly priced a OC/SC GTX560ti is as fast as a stock 570 for well less and overclocked 570 is as much as a GTX580 and offers less performance, about P1500 on 3Dmark 11. The 6970 is a better option to the 570.

soc 560 TI costs around 260$ when the 570 costs around 290-300 $ and with better cooling it will get to 320-330$ which i find is a great price because even with 50% overclock the 560 ti wil be weaker because of the lower proccesing and shader cores (Also the card wont reach 50% it will reach around 20%if you got lucky and got a good chip) . and even then youre running your card on its max overclock which means it will shorten its life span dramitclly and if you ever want to sell it you will have to sell it in like 20% of its price because you wear it out.
so why dont pay the extra 50$ if you already have them and get a card with great performance on stock settings and you could get even more with a good overclock.

$330 for a reference 570 which scores P5200~ on 3DMark 11, A $220 560Ti reference card oc'd within safe levels scores P5000 for over a $100 less, yes the 570 is better and I was not denying that, but it is badly priced when you consider the EVGA and ASUS SOC 570 retail at $400 and a GTX 580 ref is $440 and the reference GTX 580 scores P8000+ on 3DMark 11, P3000 points better than a 570 for $40 more. The 560ti is a better mid gap than the 570 which is also a mid level card. Consider also that SLI'd 560ti's are shown to be faster than the single 580, while SLI'd 570 cost what it would to get a 590 or 6990, alternatively a OC'd 7970 which will still run faster than 2 570's.

syntethic bench test do not intrest me , i like real stats in games. but the deal is this . overclocking isnt healthy for a card and the 570 is very strong on stock and the price isnt that high compared to the 580 high price and ofcourse isnt as low as a 560 &560 TI but its still affordable and if he can afford 1 then he should defintley get it .

The difference between a score of p5000 and p5200 in a REAL game can actually be a lot of fps depending on the game. Real game benchmarks shows the real facts that make the difference. I am not choosing a card now, I am just giving my opinion on what evidence to use.

3DMark 11 pushes the GPU further than any game can with the degree of tesselations and dynamic lighting, lense effects. In a gaming environment you maybe get 3-7 FPS with a 570 over a 560ti which doesn't justify a $100 bump. On the other hand it is more prudent to look at a $440 580 over a $330-400 570 considering that a 560Ti 448 at $280-300 will match the 570, the Inno3D Superclocked 560Ti ran comparible with a GTX 470 and in the same range as a 570 EVGA card at $240.

Consider going one better picking up 2 GTX 560 OC for $350-400 easily better than a GTX570
