Skyrim is Game of the year 2011

I struggled to choose between Skyrim and Arkham City, two fantastic (and quite different) games, but went for Batman because it's the one that keeps drawing me back.

However, Saints Row 3 would be a surprisingly close third pick - easily the most 'fun' game for me. Best soundtrack by miles too. Smacking someone with an oversized purple schlong as 'Stand and Deliver' or 'Holding out for a Hero' blasts away never gets old

Gah, completely forgot Dead Space 2! Fantastic pacing, crushing atmosphere, horrific beasties and all-round excellent design, from the dripping gore to the nerve-jangling audio

And the only game I completed in under 24 hours in 2011!

Props to minecraft, hours of punching dirt, leveling fields, cutting trees, mining ores, crafting things, shearing sheep, sowing seeds, building , building, building...........CREEPERS and spiders, Lava deaths and boogiemen. BF3

DX:HR needs another vote. Skyrim might be really good, but the story in Deus Ex is way better and I liked that the game can be completed (almost) without killing anyone.
