Gaming rig opinion/tips

Postby MrPerryTP » Sat Jun 02, 2012 2:21 pm

Hello everyone :)
I've just registered to this forum and I would like some opinions on my future gaming rig :D
If you know/think I can get better feel free to post here

MOBO: Asrock Z77 Pro4
CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K
GPU: MSi GeForce GTX 680
HDD: WD 1TB 1003FBYX
SSD: OCZ Agility 3
Optical Drive: LG GH22NS
RAM: 4x4 Corsair Vengeance 1600MHZ DDR3 Red
PSU: Corsair 850W TX
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home 64bit
Monitor: dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" IPS

Special features: - with this motherboard and processor, I can turn on Lucid Virtu Universal MVP witch allows MOBO and CPU graphic cards be turned on first, and if there is not enough GPU power, then my GTX 680 turns on :)
- PSU with 850W allows me to OC my GPU and CPU with no worries that my PSU will get fried ;)

I would love to post how much that rig will cost me, but I don't know how much HRK (cash currency in Croatia) is $1

What are your thoughts/tips?

CPU: Intel Core i7 3570K
HDD: SAMSUNG F3 3.5" 1TB
SSD: Samsung 830
RAM: 2x4gb

I would make those changes if you are just gaming. PSU is also probably overkill.

The HDD is a bizarre choice. Not sure why you went with a enterprise class HDD. Get something from the Caviar series.

Also how big of an SSD are you going for?

Overall looks good.

@Mustaomena
I changed the processor. I looked at benchmark and i7 is only better for multitasking :)
And changed the RAM's too
Thank you :)

@TherealYeno
I was looking for the Hdd that has more RPM, more cache memory and that it has 1TB. This one has 7200RPM, 64MB cache..

The SSd is 90GB with Native TRIM Support (don't know what this is) R:525/W:500

Then you should be getting a WD Caviar Black not that enterprise drive unless you have some specific reason to get that drive.

The 90GB drive is a decent size. Just make sure you follow the proper steps in setting up your SSD. Do you plan on using it as a boot drive or a cache drive?

If you are planning on overclocking the cpu, I would suggest an after market water cooler like the Corsair H60 or an Antec Khuler H20. Either of these coolers will keep your cpu at around 25° Celsius in idle and it will hang around 45-50° Celsius under heavy load, even when over clocked, depending on your cpu of course.

Antec H20 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835209049.

@TherealYelo

Thanky you for that opinion.. I will be getting that Hdd :)))

@KaRaZyHoRsE

I will OC my CPU, but not drastically.. I intend to buy Thermaltake ISGC-100. Processor's stock speed is 3.4ghz, I intend to OC it to 3.8GHz.. I think that is quite a good speed for now :)
