Back of the Box
Serious Sam 3: Before First Encounter is an upcoming first-person shooter video game in development by Croteam. It will be the latest game in the Serious Sam series and a prequel to the original game, Serious Sam: The First Encounter. Serious Sam 3: BFE will be set in Egypt and feature a 16-player co-operative campaign mode. The game is set for release in Q3 2011 on PC and unspecified consoles. Thus far, the only logical interpretation of "BFE" has been "Before First Encounter"; given the fact "Serious Sam Stone" was sent back in time through the Time Lock to destroy the evil sent by Mental. Considering the setting is based on Earth, it would only make sense that the events unraveling in Serious Sam 3, are those that brought Serious Sam to the "First Encounter" in the first place.

The latest system requirements News for Serious Sam 3
Full system requirements for Serious Sam 3 reported on Aug-12-2011

Croteam are the developers behind the 3rd instalment of Serious Sam, tagged Before first Encounter. This time they are wraping this third game up as a prequel to the first Serious Sam, which was called Serious Sam: First Encounter.

Serious Sam 3: BFE system requirements have been announced and they are suprisingly meaty...

Serious Sam 3 Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows XP 32-bit (with service pack 2 or 3)

CPU: Dual-core from Intel or AMD at 2.0 GHz

GFX: NVIDIA GeForce 7800/7900/8600 series

RAM: 1GB

HDD: 4GB free hard disk space

Audio: DirectX9.0c Compatible Sound Card

Serious Sam 3 Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: Quad-core from Intel or AMD at 2.0 GHz

GFX: NVIDIA GeForce 480/580 GTX

RAM: 4GB

Game-Debate Requirements for Serious Sam 3

OS: Windows 7 64-bit

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66GHz / AMD Athlon II X3 405e

GFX: NVIDIA GeForce GT 140 / AMD Radeon HD 6570

RAM: 4GB

[Game-Debates Requirements are what we think you can get Serious Sam 3 running comfortably on. For example, you may not be able to turn anti-aliasing on but the game will still play and look just great at your standard resolution. We will adjust these requirements based on your feedback and they will power the system requirements tool on the game page]

And so it looks like Serious Sam 3 Before First Encounter system requirements are a fair bit higher than we would have expected. We hope for two things from this, firstly that the new Serious Engine 3 is well refined and capable of making use of the extra serious system requirements and secondly, that Before First Encounter delivers the great Serious Sam flavour we have come to expect. Good luck Croteam, lets drive forward PC gaming.

Try lowest settings, but I don't guarantee very good framerate. And on a resolution smaller than 1680x1050.

You should be able to run it on medium to high with that framerate. As for the DLC, I only tried Jewel of the Nile and I can't say it gives anything new to the game (except an axe, not a hammer), so it is worth buying only if you want same more action.

Can I max it out? GD says my video card is too low for recommended but I've seen plenty of YT videos with much lower systems than mine, running it smoothly at maximum settings, and even while recording.

I don't know why's that, mate, it is possible you have some Trojans eating your rig performance, make a full scan. I get constantly 60+ FPS at maximum settings, so you should get at least 30.
