Metro 2034 sequel to Metro 2033 is called Metro Last Light
It is the year 2034.
Beneath the ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside - and within.
Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above.
But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever.
As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival - the last light in our darkest hour...
A gripping, story-driven first person shooter, Metro: Last Light is the hugely anticipated sequel to 2010's critically acclaimed cult classic Metro 2033
Experience thrilling combat with an exotic arsenal of hand-made weaponry against deadly foes - both human and mutant - and use stealth to launch attacks under the cover of darkness

Full system requirements for Metro: Last Light reported on Apr-17-2013

Ahh fascist imagery. Great! Ok, lets get this right out there. Metro Last Light requirements were released already and by our accounts, these are a reworked set of Metro Last Light system requirements.

Why? You might correctly ask. The reason almost feels too much like a belated sponsorship deal with Nvidia, to get some key features promoted before the new gaming pool dries up for summer. Like the new Nvidia Titan range, which of course, has never been in any game's requirements, until now...

Let me break down the facts.

Metro 2033, the first Metro game, was a big player in terms of heavy system requirements, a few years back. So we will be expecting something hefty from it again.

There are no other requirement heavy games to sponsor for a good few months, once Metro Last Light is behind us.

Nvidia has the new super expensive Titan GPU that has never been a requirement for a game before. Why would it? We dont think any game developer in their right mind would "normally" tell players that their game would only run at max if they bought a GPU that came out a few weeks ago and costs up to £975.27 in the UK and up to $1322.55 in the US.

And so, as if by magic, an excuse presents itself to those rich people who are thinking about upgrading. Before Metro Last Light just changed its system requirements there was no obvious reason to upgrade to a Titan not now or anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong, we love massive system requirements for games, its what helps keep the PC gaming industry vibrant and alive. Metro Last Light is looking beautiful too, although not goregous enough to keep THQ from going down, but DX11 accelerated with an extra dose of particle physics and destructive scenery thrown in.

But, when you look over this new revised version of the Metro Last Light system requirements, well it feels contrived and reads like an Nvidia press release about their latest expensive tech.

Metro Last Light Minimum System Requirements

DX: 9 direct x

Metro Last Light Recommended System Requirements

The details of that system requirement list have been stripped to bare essentials except information that deliver one of two messages. Firstly they tell you what Nvidia GPU tech you want to play the game or they help support the desire for a gamer to buy a powerful system and therefore pick up a powerful Nvidia GPU, which they have listed for you.

They don't mention details about what specific CPU you need and they definitely don't mention AMD CPUs. They seem to begrudgingly mention an alternative AMD GPU, almost a cough (or AMD equivalent e.g. 7870) cough and they haven't mentioned controller support or hard disk space and they certainly don't think AMD are capable of running the game in optimum, whether CPU or GPU.

If you want to listen to one thing I tell you over this next month, here it is

Wait and see what the real world frame rates look like on both Nvidia and AMD hardware before buying anything new based off of this data. And definitely read some good ol'GD member feedback before buying into any press release about needing a Titan or the latest Nvidia technology to get this game to look top notch.

Pah, do they think we wont notice? It makes me want to shake all the other Editors of sites that just mindlessly print what they are fed. "Come on, if you dont analyse the data they pass you, you are just advertising, FOR FREE!"

Anyway, if you want to check to see if your rig can play Metro Last Light then head over to our Metro Last Light system requirements page and use the can I run it tool. Or check out the Metro frames per second ratings page or you might like a complete list of GPUs / CPUs that will play the game.

oh and if you want to listen to a second thing from me this month...psst, sign up to GD Premium, now. It will blow your Nvidia/AMD anxiety out of the water. If they can do it, so can I.

Premium ;)

Running this at my native resolution with everything on low, using the latest nVidia beta drivers, getting a very stable 40 FPS. Even on low it looks beautiful so there's really nothing to worry about, and the gameplay is great. But a word of advice, don't waste too much time getting excited when you can choose weapons and mods for free at the start of the game, because about 10 minutes after that you lose them...I was pissed. Still, a few hours in and so far I'm loving it :D

run a gpu stressing utility like furmark or msi combustor.
If the temps are below 80C all the time, if you don't see artifacts, your gpu haven't crashed after about 10mins long stressing test, then you're good :)

since its not a K series chip OCing it wouldnt be too wise. Its kind of risky and pointless as the increase would litereally be less than 5%.

You can run it on low-medium settings at your current resolution. Although, I'm slightly concerned because you have only 2 GB of RAM. So maybe you'll experience some lags.
Just make sure you have latest drivers and AMD update. ;)

On high settings and more, yes. Also, it is better optimized for Nvidia cards. But there is a patch out now that improves AMD performance. The game still runs better on Nvidia though...
