Minecraft is a sandbox game which allows players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. It is currently in development by Markus Persson, aka "Notch". The gameplay is inspired by Dwarf Fortress, RollerCoaster Tycoon, Dungeon Keeper, and especially Infiniminer. The game has two variants, Alpha and Classic, both with single- and multiplayer options. Classic includes only the building aspects of the game with unlimited blocks, while Alpha includes monsters and a much greater variety of crafting available, as well as requiring players to mine their own blocks. Alpha is currently the latest release of Minecraft, and plans to move into beta sometime in September 2010. Minecraft was developed for about a week before its public release on May 16, 2009 on the TIGSource forums, where it gained a considerable level of popularity. It has been continually updated since then.

Of course. Low settings and low render distance. You may get some lag at times though because you only have 1 gig of RAM :/

well, java based games are strange in performance :D
I believe you cause a friend with core2duo @ 2,13 Ghz, 2 gb ram with xin xp and an unknown but rather weak gfx has 100-140 fps, but at least for him it doesnt matter cause he has sudden fps drops quite often-commonly lag.

i ve read that shader mod is not very light, but you have a strong pc, so definitely playable fps with max.

You'll get atleast 400-500 fps whilst playing with Max FPS turned on, around 100-150 with balanced fps and 30 with power saver fps C:

Hey guys for some time this game has been screwing with me with some FPS drops and all stuffs (nothing added) and now when i added some texture pack i tried putting 256 pack and what i got is 1-2 FPS and i said "well odd" then i putted 128 pack and i got 7-8 FPS which is absurd i mean there is just no way but the thing dont end there i put 64 pack and i got 28-38 FPS then back down. Just what is problem with this can any1 help me. I dont think i should get that low FPS on it i see ppl playing and recording with 650Ti for 128 pack and it was smooth and i cant even play it.

7850 is a great card, it should be able to perform nicely with 128 at least...
update drivers, reinstall game, update java. please note there is a 64-bit and a 32-bit version of java available, choose the best depending on your OS.
delete stuff that might be slowing down pc, scan for viruses.
worst case scenario: format, but first save all you need!!
