At that resolution AA would be essential, and it wouldn't harm him at all (FXAA, light MSAA) as long as he doesn't try to use super-sampling. The use of v-sync is debatable. A little input lag versus greatly noticeable screen-tearing? (Plus this game comes with triple buffering).

If you upgrade your cpu and remove that bottleneck on your gpu you should be able to run it high/ultra @ 1080p without issues. A ram update would go a long way too.

Just let it be known, (imo) it 'feels' like a console port when you play it on PC without a gamepad. Just an fyi.

The socket just depends on what cpu you choose, just check the specifications of it before purchasing your motherboard.

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/ takes the guesswork out of it. Just type in your cpu and it will give you a link to compatible motherboards and vice-versa.

Hope this helps.
