Full system requirements for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition reported on Oct-10-2014

Dragon Age Inquisition is out on November 18th in the US and following closely in the EU. Bioware have had a slightly up and down time with this series. Dragon Age Origins, which is currently free, was a huge success and a startling new IP, but the fan base felt that Dragon Age 2 pandered too much to the console generation. Missing out on the depth of the classic.

Dragon Age Inquisition is the third installment and meant to bridge the gap between those previous two titles, while still delivering a huge in depth story and gameplay mechanic that appeals to the masses. Well today we have been told the Dragon Age Inquisition system requirements so we can check to see how well our PCs will run DAI specs. I can tell you now, the recommended reqs are pretty heavy while the minimum reqs are fairly gentle, suggesting that it is catering for all PCs.

In Dragon Age Inquisition you are set to travel the lands of Thedas, a place fraught with strife, where factions are constantly in conflict with one another, while a demonic force builds in preparation for war. DAI will place the hero player in the role of saviour.

Dragon Age Inquisition Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB of system memory needed
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or Radeon R9 270 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
  • GPU VRAM: 2 GB graphics card memory
  • HD: 26 GB hard drive space required
  • DX: 11 Direct X
  • Control: Gamepad or Keyboard & Mouse

Dragon Age Inquisition Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD 4xCore @ 2.5 GHz / Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 4870 / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
  • GPU VRAM: 512 MB
  • HD: 26 GB
  • DX: 10 Direct X
  • Control: Keyboard & Mouse

The minimum graphics requirements are pretty easy going in DAI, with the ancient but stalwart 8800 GT finding its place again. The minmum requirements are requesting a quad core from either AMD or Intel which seems interesting and one we will be exploring further once the game is released in November. Likewise the recommended system memory is asking for a not entirely uncommon but still pretty serious 8GB RAM. This year has seen quite a few of those sorts of RAM requests but not all of the games asking for it really needed or used 8GB RAM. So it seemed like it was a little over kill.

We are told that the PC version of Dragon Age Inquisition is going to allow the PC gamer to customise their visual experience, through a plethora of graphics settings and video resolution options. With 4K screen resolution and AMD Mantle support with its PC purpose built HUD.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that the resolution will be 1080p on PS4, while the Xbox One will have 900p.

UPDATE 2: The Graphics card VRAM for recommended system requirements has been lowered from 3GB to 2GB VRAM.

A greater focus this time around has been put back on the round by round tactical strategy approach to combat, harking back to classic roleplaying games like Baldurs gate and Dragon Age Origins. While you can play Dragon Age 3 with a gamepad/controller it is also "fine tuned" for mouse and keyboard gameplay style as well.

So how is your rig going to fair against the Dragon Age Inquisiton? Will you be able to play this at max or are you expecting to have to make some serious adjustments to get it to run smoothly? Also who is looking forward to this and who enjoyed DA Origins and DA2?

mmm…nooo.but its an RPG did not know that really?ac unity as all assasins creed games are action adventure games and you cant have any choice on your outcomes or your personality,or to say,you go on a linear path and cant change it its always the same no matter what you do.

Yeah it sure would although I was convinced I wouldn't be able to run AC Unity when I got it as a gift but I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to run it at 30 fps give or take at 1680x1050! It freezes for a second once in awhile.

i think that denuvo thing is just a hoax so you will be fine, the lag and stutering in games were always there and it has more with diferent systems, plus that thing that it damages hardwere(especialy ssd-s)is nothing more then CRAP its just not valid and its cheap try to remove denuvo so it would be easier to crack the game, which will happen wheter they have the denuvo or not its just how it goes:D

Problems with game so far, clearly developed for a controller, you have to repeatedly hit the LMB to attack and stand next to anything you wish to pick up, you can't just click on it from a distance, same for movement, you have to WASD to get around unless ….. You use tactical camera mod where the game becbecomes more PC accessible but ….. The camera is crap and doesn't zoom out enough to view the action and if indoors they you're royally knackered, apart from these issues the game itself ain't too bad just don't go expecting Origins the control system is all about casual console gaming unfortunately

I'm playing on normal, not too difficult would try a harder setting but the controls with the tactical camera would drive me mad, world quests are simply enough, find a cave kill 5 monsters to reveal some text and an item or two, this is what I've found so far as I'm still in the first sector and it is pretty big, not a lot of story so far as I'm now running around doing side quests, game is alright but I still prefer Origins from what I've seen so far, still plenty left to do so though so plenty of time to change my view :)

That is my philosphy too, getting stronger by doing sidequests, acquiring unique weapons and armor. :)

It's certainly a good game just not like Origins as most people were expecting :)

too bad i was not expecting origins but i guess they dont make games as origins(or anything else) anymore they now focus on gfx and easy combat like star wars battlefront(which i like but not in this kind of game) ahhh well origins is origins :D

[Warning Minor Spoiler]
After you completed the Main Story quest In Your Heart Shall Burn the game gives you much more options.

A Dutch reviewer described it very well i have to see: "The game really starts after 20-30 hours, at this point most other games would have ende but DA:I just starts"

With that ponit he meant the noted quest above .

Story wise it isn't as good as Origins though

I warned Roley about the Tactical view allready didn't i :D

In the light of new information since release, most of the dual cores procesors had issues(black screen, crashes, etc…),so anyone here that have been told they can run it on dual core is probabbly not going to and i apologize in my name if i said they can, some intel users have been able to play it by updating there drivers,so if you bought the game i am sorry and if you are not do not buy it unles

Its ok optimized but not that great, It has bugs in the game right now that iv ran into, Very annoying, If i can play on High with around 45fps you should be able to play on High with around 60fps with no aa
