Full system requirements for Dragon Age 3: Inquisition reported on Oct-10-2014

Dragon Age Inquisition is out on November 18th in the US and following closely in the EU. Bioware have had a slightly up and down time with this series. Dragon Age Origins, which is currently free, was a huge success and a startling new IP, but the fan base felt that Dragon Age 2 pandered too much to the console generation. Missing out on the depth of the classic.

Dragon Age Inquisition is the third installment and meant to bridge the gap between those previous two titles, while still delivering a huge in depth story and gameplay mechanic that appeals to the masses. Well today we have been told the Dragon Age Inquisition system requirements so we can check to see how well our PCs will run DAI specs. I can tell you now, the recommended reqs are pretty heavy while the minimum reqs are fairly gentle, suggesting that it is catering for all PCs.

In Dragon Age Inquisition you are set to travel the lands of Thedas, a place fraught with strife, where factions are constantly in conflict with one another, while a demonic force builds in preparation for war. DAI will place the hero player in the role of saviour.

Dragon Age Inquisition Recommended System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 / Windows 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD six core CPU @ 3.2 GHz, Intel quad core CPU @ 3.0 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB of system memory needed
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7870 or Radeon R9 270 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
  • GPU VRAM: 2 GB graphics card memory
  • HD: 26 GB hard drive space required
  • DX: 11 Direct X
  • Control: Gamepad or Keyboard & Mouse

Dragon Age Inquisition Minimum System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 or 8.1 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD 4xCore @ 2.5 GHz / Intel quad core CPU @ 2.0 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon HD 4870 / NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
  • GPU VRAM: 512 MB
  • HD: 26 GB
  • DX: 10 Direct X
  • Control: Keyboard & Mouse

The minimum graphics requirements are pretty easy going in DAI, with the ancient but stalwart 8800 GT finding its place again. The minmum requirements are requesting a quad core from either AMD or Intel which seems interesting and one we will be exploring further once the game is released in November. Likewise the recommended system memory is asking for a not entirely uncommon but still pretty serious 8GB RAM. This year has seen quite a few of those sorts of RAM requests but not all of the games asking for it really needed or used 8GB RAM. So it seemed like it was a little over kill.

We are told that the PC version of Dragon Age Inquisition is going to allow the PC gamer to customise their visual experience, through a plethora of graphics settings and video resolution options. With 4K screen resolution and AMD Mantle support with its PC purpose built HUD.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention that the resolution will be 1080p on PS4, while the Xbox One will have 900p.

UPDATE 2: The Graphics card VRAM for recommended system requirements has been lowered from 3GB to 2GB VRAM.

A greater focus this time around has been put back on the round by round tactical strategy approach to combat, harking back to classic roleplaying games like Baldurs gate and Dragon Age Origins. While you can play Dragon Age 3 with a gamepad/controller it is also "fine tuned" for mouse and keyboard gameplay style as well.

So how is your rig going to fair against the Dragon Age Inquisiton? Will you be able to play this at max or are you expecting to have to make some serious adjustments to get it to run smoothly? Also who is looking forward to this and who enjoyed DA Origins and DA2?

Sadly no. Your processor is a dual core and it doesn't have 4 threads even. Don't even get me started on the GPU. :/

Medium with some on high. Set the screen to windowed full screen for extra fps and no stuttering. Mesh and Tessellation quality should not be tweaked higher than needed, they have a big impact on fps.
Happy gaming :)

Did you let the game chose the settings for you PC or did you tweek it? Have you tried setting the screen to windowed fullscreen? That worked for me when I had stuttering problems

Have you tried updating the game? Or your driver?
Try setting everything on lowest than slowly going up until you notice stuttering. Also there are some areas that cause way more stuttering

There is a chance you can run it on low. But that GPU is under the line, you should be okay with your CPU because it has 2 cores and 4 threads even if the CPU should be a quad-core.

You will probably run it mostly on medium with some on high even. For extra fps set the screen to windowed fullscreen.
The game will set you the best settings for you, don't tweek too much especially with mesh, tessalion and anti-aliasing. Enjoy!

You need a quad core buddy or at least dual with 4 threads. You won't be able to even enter the game. Trust me, I had experience with that

I don't think you could run it, buddy. Your GPU can't handle it, even if your CPU is a-okay. Just asking, is your RAM really a DDR2 ?

System requirements don't seem to be correct.
Game doesn't even launch, just get a black screen, that crashes immediately:

CPU: Core i7-4702MQ 4-Core 2.2GHz
GFX: GeForce GTX 760M
RAM: 8GB

Anyone experienced this as well?

I had black screens in the middle of the game and switching the screen to windowed fullscreen fixed that for me. It might be a problem with the installation or you didn't update your driver. The black screen is pretty common and it already has a lot of fixes. Try going to Origin and selecting 'Repair game' (only for non-torrent games). Or try searching through the internet if non of this works

Thanks for your suggestions. None of them worked, though. Reinstalled several times. Nvidia installes driver updates automatically. I also chatted with an Origin technical service member, who told me my laptop wasn't strong enough.

Most on high with some on medium. Should be around 40fps and up, but be aware that there are some places where it drops quite a bit. But the screen setting on windowed fullscreen for more fps and no stuttering. Enjoy the game!
