Full system requirements for Borderlands 2 reported on Jul-27-2012

A cartoony FPS? Gearbox Software took a design leap with Borderlands and to everyone’s delight, it paid off. The game stood out from the crowd. The stylised black outline around characters and backgrounds, seen traditionally in cartoons, was used to great effect. We are told that part of the reasoning behind this move was so they could push the visual boundaries of console hardware, while lowering the performance hit. Very smart.

What impact does that design choice have on PC gamers in the next game of Borderlands? Well Borderlands 2 system requirements are now available, so lets see shall we...

We had a chance to play the game first hand recently and it was a good laugh for sure, but whether it would require something as hefty as a GTX 560 to meet recommended we are not so sure. Chances are you will be able to play the game with a lesser GPU and a few things turned down a little.

Speaking of which, we took a picture of the graphics option screen, although a little blurry, you can see some of the options that will be open to PC gamers.

Is it normal for me to get like 80 in some places and like 45-55 in really dense/populated areas… I know my computer could do better than that and it isnt performing as well… I'm even running it at 1680 x 1050 and still cant get 60 FPS

You can definitely play on max settings 60 fps. The options don't make much of a difference in this game for the most part unless you go from absolute best to absolute worst settings.

I feel like your GPU really limits you. I can run at least 50fps in most areas but only because I have my cell shading and anisotropic turned off. The cell shading is the most demanding part of this game and you need to edit game files to turn it off. I'd say even with cell shading off you're looking at 30fps tops.

Running the game @1440p 90Hz, I can only reach -80 FPS on the lowest settings. Is this OK, or is there a problem with my hardware?

Hi,
I think so yes. If you get 80fps on Lowest settings. Have you tried Low & Medium? at 1440p. What fps you get?

Strange. I reset the settings (except for FPS- default was Smoothed 22-62, set it to Unlimited) and I get far better FPS.
