Back of the Box
Legend of Grimrock is a fantasy game loaded with underground adventuring, tricky puzzles, combat and role-playing elements. In other words, it’s a dungeon crawl game. It’s a genre that a lot of people consider old fashioned since nowadays there are huge open world RPGs filled to the brim with stuff like customizable horses, several-hundred-page scripts for subplots alone and, uh, talking dragons or spaceships I think. But we feel that some of the simple charms of dungeon crawl games have been forgotten and for no good reason too. To many, it might feel silly to make a 3D game in this day and age that constrains itself to grid based movement and environments but it actually works rather nicely when you think of combat as a game of tactics and timing. It works very well when designing puzzles too, which is an element we feel is very lacking, and in some cases completely absent, in modern RPGs. And, possibly most importantly, it also makes it possible for a small team of four developers to make a rather sizeable game!

Full system requirements for Legend of Grimrock reported on Mar-28-2012

Legend Of Grimrock is a homage to the awesome nostalgia drenched RPGs of the early 1990s. Eye of the Beholder and Ultima Underworld. You can only turn ninty degrees at a time to explore and underground maze of dungeons. This is the closest sort of thing on PC to a Dungeon Crawler.

This is a really good looking game, the texture quality is really nice and the lighting effects are incredible. Especially impressive when you consider it was made by a small indie dev. I mean okay, it's a dungeon and you don't need to design many tiles for a dungeon, but they really went all out here. Another reason these devs are awesome, is that the arrow icons that you can enable in game and basically just use to control the movement with your mouse, are apparently there because a handicapped gamer wrote in and asked if he/she could play the game with only the mouse, and these guys made it possible. It's a great game, if you like the old school dungeoncrawlers you'll love it, and plus these devs just deserve to be supported.

UPDATE:
I have finished this game and the last two levels require huge GPU power. My GeForce GT 540M was barely breathing with the many torches and special effects. The rooms were also full of monsters which wasn't helping either. Reminded me of Sims 2 when there was too many Sims on a place.
For some reason, I do not know, I had 60 steady FPS on the first 4/6 levels but beyond that and on a new scenario, they dropped to 40-50 and on the last two levels 20-40 at the highest settings. I am therefore removing the GD Adjusted settings, since the released system requirements seem quite accurate.
P.S. Changing the settings to medium did not boost the FPS much.
P.P.S The last boss is unbelievable and the story is actually quite unpredictable.

I am having a blast so far. I will upload some gameplay videos in a few minutes and add them as the Main featured Trailer. It's really worth giving it a try.
