Well then sports fans, we've got something fresh for you today! We already know that FIFA 14 will be running on the new Ignite engine for next gen consoles, but not for PC.

If it's not using the new engine then, what are the PC specs? Well, despite this busy time, (in case you hadn't noticed, ITS E3 WEEK!) EA have kindly sent us an exclusive first look at this years FIFA 14 System Requirements...

CPU: Intel Pentium Dual Core E6600 2.4GHz or AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core 4800+

RAM: 2GB System Memory

GPU RAM: 256MB Graphics Memory

FIFA 14 System Requirements Review

Lets look at the FIFA 14 predecessor first. FIFA 13 has, of course, been out for half a year now, and as is often the case, the FIFA 13 official requirements didn't quite add up. But this is par for the course here on GD. We're always refining our data, so that when you do your requirement checks here on GD we incorporate real world performance to help deliver the best set of results, as well as the official ones.

For example, FIFA 13 claimed it wanted a Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz for it's recommended requirements, but really it needs less - something closer to the Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz.

Looking at these new Recommended Requirements for FIFA 14, it seems like EA have taken a leaf from our book, and have sent us requirements that look much more reasonable! The recommendation of a Dual Core 2.4GHz is much closer to what we expected based on our findings - if the game is using last year's engine that is.

The Graphics are no better than were recommended for FIFA 13, which means we do not expect there to be any significant graphical improvements over last year's version for the PC. It could look slightly better due to optimisation and tweaks, but don't expect anything huge.

On the positive side, this means FIFA 14 will run on pretty much most PCs and Laptops around the world. The old 8800 GT is there as is the AMD 2900 XT. A couple of graphical beasts that never quit. And does the game need shiny new graphics or does it actually need improvements in gameplay? Ok, so the answer is, FIFA is long overdue for a graphical facelift but it isn't ugly, even now. It does what it needs to.

Which is lucky, because we won't be getting any updates to the graphics engine on PC this year, so we'll have to wait for FIFA 15 to see the fancy new graphics; or if EA are crafty, we reckon we will probably see a FIFA 2014 World Cup Edition around April/May 2014, and that could well introduce the Ignite engine to PC. We can only wait and see!

The only thing left to do will be to compare the next Gen Console versions to the PC versions when they're released; our GD FIFA 14 Review will show off just how much the PC version is missing without the Ignite engine! We'll also make sure to look at how game changing the new features are, to see if it's a worthy improvement on FIFA 13. The GD FIFA 14 review wont be along for a few months though, as the game is not out until 27th September 2013. When are the next Gen console versions out...maybe we will find out this week at E3?

New FIFA 14 Features

On top of the new ball physics, there's quite a few new enhancements to this generation - including a new balance engine, allowing you to use clever footwork to outwit your opponents and make shots even when you're off balance.

The new footwork includes the ability to properly block the ball, helping your team make space to continue the advance; something that the new, improved AI will help with. Not only that, the AI will now respond far better to win the ball back, or outplay the enemy defence in order to score!
