Star Citizen is available on PC
Independent Game
Star Citizen is created by an independent developer. An indie game is created without the financial support of a game publisher. These chaps need our support! They help PC gaming become diverse and brilliant. Buy their games!
Co-op Game
Star Citizen has a co-op mode so you can play with your mates on the same side, usually through the main story mode
Online Only
Star Citizen can not be played without constant online access. This could be due to security reasons or because of the nature of the gameplay
MultiPlayer
Star Citizen is designed to be played with other people or it is heavily bias towards that type of gameplay
Online Activation
Star Citizen can not be played without first activating the game online. Once activated the game may be playable offline. If our Online Only button is also highlighted then you will need constant online access
Flightstick
Star Citizen can be played with a flightstick or joystick
Back of the Box
Star Citizen brings the visceral action of piloting interstellar craft through combat and exploration to a new generation of gamers at a level of fidelity never before seen. At its core Star Citizen is a destination, not a one-off story. It's a complete universe where any number of adventures can take place, allowing players to decide their own game experience. Pick up jobs as a smuggler, pirate, merchant, bounty hunter, or enlist as a pilot, protecting the borders from outside threats. I've always wanted to create one cohesive universe that encompasses everything that made Wing Commander and Privateer / Freelancer special. A huge sandbox with a complex and deep lore allowing players to explore or play in whatever capacity they wish.

The R9 Series Cards advertise Star Citizen and Alien: Isolation in their bundles. So I think these specs are guesses. Rather, i hope they are.

It's a crowd funded game… $65,000,000+ donated from people that wanted to see this game made. That's A LOT of money from other people, and probably little to none out of the developers pockets. They will probably make a profit if they don't sell any copies of the game other than the supporter copies.

i think this game is only marketed to only a few people in the PC gaming world who owns 980 SLI, Crossfire 290X, or high end rigs like that. I personally would like to see how this game turns out.

I haven't finished building the rig in my profile, so I decided to try Arena Commander on my current low-end setup:

AMD Radeon HD 6670
Intel Core i5-2400 3.1gHz
8GB 667mHz DDR2
Win 7 64

On "Dying Star" I averaged around 24fps at 720p on low settings (which still looks pretty damn good btw)

If I were you I would rather get an i5 4690k and a better GPU.R9 290(X) or R9 390(X) when it gets out.It would perform much better then i7/270X.

Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, I've already gone with the 270x. Since I was impressed with how SC ran on my current setup, I'm sure I'll be more than happy with it's performance on my new rig. I do however, plan on crossfiring two 270x's eventually though.

cistamlaka
18:22 Dec-06-2014

Don't crossfire 270X.You got the 2GB version, right?Games are starting to use more than 2GB of VRAM which means that if you crossfire you will have to lower settings because the lack of VRAM.I'm not saying that 270X crossfire is slow but the lack of VRAM would be a problem. And there are other problems with Crossfire (SLI also has them) like microstuttering, game not supporting it or similar.

Correct me if I'm wrong, from what I've read, AMD has fixed the microstutter issue with drivers, and I'm yet to find anyone that's (recently) said they've found a game to not support crossfire. Also, since I'm staying with a single monitor setup at 1080p, the VRAM shouldn't be a huge issue (4k is pointless imo)

0
cistamlaka
10:47 Dec-07-2014

I think that most games when they come out have problems with Crossfire although they get fixed after some time. Also even though you are playing at 1080p you will have problems with VRAM.Recent games (SOM,FC4,AC unity…) all use more than 2GB of VRAM (some even more than 3GB) at 1080p.That means that even if the 270x Crossfire is faster than single 290x you would have to lower some settings.

Ok, thanks for the info Cistamlaka. For now I'm going to stick with the 270x, since it's still a great card, and I can't afford a different one right now. I'm ok with not being able to run everything on ultra, as long as it'll still look good. Are you suggesting I shouldn't bother crossfire at all still?

0
cistamlaka
19:07 Dec-07-2014

Yes,I'm saying that it would be better to upgrade later to a stronger GPU (R9 290X,380X,390X) then Crossfiring 270X.

I think they should make this game at least playable for the rest of us that don't have thousands of dollars to upgrade our PC every year or two.. I think if you can play current AAA titles just fine, they should at least let you have a shot at running this game when it comes out.

If you guys are wondering if you can run the game or not, just search your specs on youtube! I was very suprized to see that the R9 260 could run Star Citizen at 60 fps on low!

lol, if you overclock you'll maybe be able to play it. It's not a blind guess since this game has been played by people. Also, this is a next gen game. It's probably hard for my GPU to even run it.
