Star Citizen is available on PC
Direct X
Star Citizen has the option of advanced Direct X which usually result in enhanced graphics. If your system is not good enough for these higher levels of DX the game should still run ok
Independent Game
Star Citizen is created by an independent developer. An indie game is created without the financial support of a game publisher. These chaps need our support! They help PC gaming become diverse and brilliant. Buy their games!
Co-op Game
Star Citizen has a co-op mode so you can play with your mates on the same side, usually through the main story mode
Online Only
Star Citizen can not be played without constant online access. This could be due to security reasons or because of the nature of the gameplay
MultiPlayer
Star Citizen is designed to be played with other people or it is heavily bias towards that type of gameplay
Online Activation
Star Citizen can not be played without first activating the game online. Once activated the game may be playable offline. If our Online Only button is also highlighted then you will need constant online access
Flightstick
Star Citizen can be played with a flightstick or joystick
Back of the Box
Star Citizen brings the visceral action of piloting interstellar craft through combat and exploration to a new generation of gamers at a level of fidelity never before seen. At its core Star Citizen is a destination, not a one-off story. It's a complete universe where any number of adventures can take place, allowing players to decide their own game experience. Pick up jobs as a smuggler, pirate, merchant, bounty hunter, or enlist as a pilot, protecting the borders from outside threats. I've always wanted to create one cohesive universe that encompasses everything that made Wing Commander and Privateer / Freelancer special. A huge sandbox with a complex and deep lore allowing players to explore or play in whatever capacity they wish.

This is a rig I'm probably going to build soon, what settings would I get if I wanted 45 FPS at least?

Probably ultra, if the optimization is good. If not, you'll have to play on high or high-ultra. Which should still look good, considering the requirements, I hope…

Can I run this on low-medium? My resolution is 1600x900 but I could go down to 1280x720. I also overclock my GPU and unpark my cores, what fps would I get on low-medium?

Yeah don't worry about upgrading just yet. You should be able to play modern games for the next year or so at fairly high settings. But….it is your rig! Do what you want. :)

Do you think this game will ever use more than 8 gigs of ram without having a bunch of other applications open?I dont think that the 8gigs can be a bottleneck..

From what I've been able to gather, the game is not going to be open-world, or at least not in the sense of GTA 5 or Watch Doge. So you should be fine with 8 gigs. However, the recommended requirements say 12 GB, so a possible necessary upgrade is not out of the question. It all depends on the optimization, I suppose.

I have read on the game website that this game WILL be open-world and you will have a whole galaxy full of ships and planets. I am going to get 12 gigs of RAM.

Well, as I said- not in the sense of GTA 5. It won't be linear like CoD, but you won't have all the freedom in the world like in GTA or Watch Dogs. I think you'll be able to travel freely to general areas, but not to mission- specific ones, like you could in Skyrim or Far Cry 3.
