Star Citizen is available on PC
Independent Game
Star Citizen is created by an independent developer. An indie game is created without the financial support of a game publisher. These chaps need our support! They help PC gaming become diverse and brilliant. Buy their games!
Co-op Game
Star Citizen has a co-op mode so you can play with your mates on the same side, usually through the main story mode
Online Only
Star Citizen can not be played without constant online access. This could be due to security reasons or because of the nature of the gameplay
MultiPlayer
Star Citizen is designed to be played with other people or it is heavily bias towards that type of gameplay
Online Activation
Star Citizen can not be played without first activating the game online. Once activated the game may be playable offline. If our Online Only button is also highlighted then you will need constant online access
Flightstick
Star Citizen can be played with a flightstick or joystick
Back of the Box
Star Citizen brings the visceral action of piloting interstellar craft through combat and exploration to a new generation of gamers at a level of fidelity never before seen. At its core Star Citizen is a destination, not a one-off story. It's a complete universe where any number of adventures can take place, allowing players to decide their own game experience. Pick up jobs as a smuggler, pirate, merchant, bounty hunter, or enlist as a pilot, protecting the borders from outside threats. I've always wanted to create one cohesive universe that encompasses everything that made Wing Commander and Privateer / Freelancer special. A huge sandbox with a complex and deep lore allowing players to explore or play in whatever capacity they wish.

I know it's a bit early to talk about, but could I play this on my resolution at a close-to-steady 60 fps? If so, what settings? (I don't need antialiasing)

hmmm that could push 1440p at 60fps after optimization. Keep in mind that the dogfighting/new modules will really punish your gpu's. Even at 1080p players see constant 40fps drops with a gtx 970.

You can do that now. As I've claimed in past posts, one 970 can drop from 60fps in tight battles. Another 970 will simply guarantee you'll be set for release (In my opinion).
So, yeah, you will.

No sorry. After looking @ your MoBo, It only has 1 PCIe. slot. So that MoBo can only hold one GPU.
And from personal experience, switching MoBo is annoying. ESPECIALLY if ur tranfering your CPU. Be very careful

Honestly, you may be able to run around your hangar, maybe even race in playable FPS, but I dont think it'll handle dogfighting too well.
I'd say you need a better GPU

You can do high around 60fps I'd say, but dogfighting can be a little heavy for a single 970 at times.

No. A single GTX 970 will not be enough to max/Ultra out the game. During decent fights, look for about 40-50fps on high.
-You gotta think about those explosions and wreckage's that will come when there is more then 3 people flying around

It depends. I personally would not. Seeing as that 40-50fps will get spikes from time to time it can really wreck the immersion. Nobody has any idea how demanding this game is going to be like when 50+ ships are flying around.

There will not be huge leap from a 4790k to a 5820k. Ultra = 55fps+ in the hangar, 40+fps in dog fighting. Seeing that it is in alpha there are still lag spikes everywhere so they are to be expected. But the new modules will be tough to run

I play in 1080p 60fps. Though, those intense battles in Vanduul Swarm eat FPS for breakfast. Though since it hasn't been optimized yet, anything's possible. I'd shoot for a SLI setup before the full release to secure 1080p/2K Max for sure. But obviously this CPU can take this game 100%. Hope I helped.
