The latest system requirements News for Outlast
Full system requirements for Outlast reported on Sep-06-2013

Outlast came out on 04/09 and for those of you brave enough to give it a try here are the minimum and recommended system requirements.

The game looks to be one that's not for the squeamish, with you playing as an investigative journalist who takes it upon themselves to explore an abandoned mental asylum. Cracking idea...

The game looks absolutely fantastic in videos so have a quick look at these specs to see how it will stack up on your PC.

Outlast Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 - 64 bits *

CPU: 2.2 GHz Dual Core CPU

RAM: 2 GB RAM

GPU: 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX / ATI Radeon HD 3xxx series

DX: DirectX 9.0c

HDD: 5 GB available space

NET: Broadband Internet connection

Outlast Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista / 7 / 8 - 64 bits

CPU: 2.8 GHz Quad Core CPU

RAM: 3 GB RAM

GPU: 1GB NVIDIA GTX 460 / ATI Radeon HD 6850 or better

From the looks of things it seems a fairly demanding game if you want to squeeze some of that visual loveliness out of it. While your rig might not necessarily stack up to the task of some of the higher visual settings it should run fairly well at minimum and above.

The graphics do look a significant notch up from similar horror titles such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent and as such we are seeing jumps like those in the recommended requirements.

Nov-01-2012 As we have announced earlier, Red Barrels Games are working on a new survival-horror game. The game takes place in the mountains of Colorado, where a journalist breaks into an isolated Mount ...
Oct-19-2012 Red Barrel Games are mostly known for working on projects and games such as Assasin's Creed and Uncharted. They now unveiled their new IP: Outlast. The announcement goes together with some early footag...

Whistleblower is so **ed up…… I havent beaten this game though.. I got bored with the main story.. it kind've was stupid, monsters that seem to know where you are but not chase you until in sight.. so i tried whistleblower.. kindve like that one but I lost my spot xD on my main file so.. I'd have to start over :l

hi guys, for GB my GPU is not enough for this game, but in the comments many of you with lesser rig are told they are able to play it on low…do you think is it playable for me at low settings?

I'm pretty sure that you can. Your GPU nearly meets the minimum, and you CPU surpasses the GD Adjusted Requirements. So yes, low should be fine if the requirements are correct.

It's really optimised, play it on low settings to get a playable fps, it does look good on low settings.

well, I run on it on high settings with my rig, for your case, I think you would run it on ultra with even 100+ fps with no problems, it took me more than 10 hours to finish, it's really engaging and SCARY.

Uhh, I can run this on high at my max resolution but it says I shouldn't be able to run it at all on my card.

Running it at high I get no lag except for when I load a whole new area. Can't say much about my FPS but its well above 30.

I'm wondering if this is a miscalculation on GD's part.
