Back of the Box
Skyrim retains the traditional open world gameplay found in the Elder Scrolls series. The player is free to roam the land of Skyrim at will. Within Skyrim lie five cities, comparatively larger to those in Oblivion's Cyrodiil setting, and expanses of wilderness and mountainous ranges. When visiting cities, the player can complete activities such as farming and mining, and is able to smith weapons from a forge. Aside from the main story quest, the player can complete side-quests, which are dynamically created based on the player's actions within the game. The in-game head-up display can be hidden, and the menu is presented in a compass-style overlay.

Full system requirements for The Elder Scrolls V reported on Oct-25-2011

Probably the biggest RPG of the year, it would be a rare gamer who has not heard of the Elder Scrolls V or Skyrim. The game is due for release in only a couple of weeks and the excitement is building fast.

A few minutes ago the Skyrim system requirements were announced and one of our awesome visitors clicked the link in our GD news feed at the top of all our pages to let us know. THANKS Fierow! Lets take a look at those Skyrim specs...

Skyrim Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 or 64 bit)

CPU: dual core 2GHz

RAM: 2GB

HDD: 6GB hard disk space

GFX: DX9c video card with 512MB RAM

OTHER: Internet Access for Steam activation

Skyrim Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows 7/Vista/XP (32 or 64 bit)

CPU: quad-core Intel/AMD

RAM: 4GB

HDD: 6GB hard disk space

GFX RAM: DX9 video card with 1 GB

GFX: GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher

Audio: DX compatible sound card

One point of note is how low the HDD space required is. We thought it would be around 15-20GB but reported as only 6GB. Maybe a typo? If you hear different then let us know.

Pete Hines says - The Skyrim minimum specs get you playing, the Skyrim recommended specs let you play on High, not on Ultra. You'll want a beefier rig for that.

So baring that in mind lets take a look at what we reckon would be a suitable computer to get Skyrim running to a satisfactory level

GD Requirements for Skyrim

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8300 2.83GHz / AMD Athlon II X2 265

RAM: 4GB

GFX: Nvidia GeForce GT 545 DDR3 / ATI Radeon HD 5670 1024MB

As always we will be looking to your feedback on this as the game comes out and you run your own tests head over to our Skyim Ratings page and pump in your frames per second and scores.

Like many we are certainly looking forward to playing The Elder Scrolls 5 and lets hope the game has moved on enough from Oblivion to put Skyrim a head above any other RPG.

Sep-27-2011 Skyrim will be a huge success this year and it's release is getting ever closer. Putting together the list of big actors should help us see what sort of budget Bethesda have running with this one. Le...

If you think having a full 1080p resolution, a crazy amount of mods you can add, and a smooth 60fps gameplay sounds good, then yes, I think so. :D

Graphics mods can be simple mods to much more GPU-intensive mods. Currently, you can run Ultra with 60 fps. Anything after that, is all you. :)

That's a pretty demanding mod you've selected there. I don't think you'll be able to play on ultra, but high should run smoothly. The developer claims that you need a 670 for minimum but that doesn't seem realistic…

its the minimum to play without it feeling to clunky. 20 is what i look for min if im to play a game. can do 15 on slow paced games, but 20 for fist person because of the the camera turning.

how many mods is relative. i can run this game with shadows off on mostly high ultra with 100 + mods at 20-25fps. but mods can be as simple as an item vendor or as complex as an enb+graphics overhaul. know your mods, and you'll be fine.noAA

Currently you should be able to run on medium to high settings for a good framerate. With mods, I have no idea. Never used them.

yep what zero said. mods could have 0 to 100% impact based on what they are. use a site like the nexus, read authors description page, don't add any god ray mods. watch out for high texture packs. use med pack. good to go.

Thanks! I already have Skyrim on my Xbox, but I thought it would be worth to buy Skyrim again on my laptop, but is it worth it on my laptop(with my specs)?

Your graphics are holding you back there, and your processor's not so great either. You may be able to run it on low settings, but it definitely won't look better than on your Xbox.

Are you sure I can run it only on low? Game-debate says I can play comfortably medium-high and the others seem to think so too.

Your GPU is about the same as an Intel HD 4000 Mobile. I had that and couldn't run this at more than 5 FPS, so I would be surprised if you can run this playably at all - if you can afford it, upgrade your card to an R7 240 or thereabouts.

My GPU meets the minimum requirements, and my CPU meets the minimum requirements aswell as the GD adjusted requirements. I have mixed thoughts on how well I can run this.

That seems to prove you can run it! If so, I have a lot of respect for APUs! Tell us how it goes when you get around to buying it.

I found that video last night! I was very surprised because he had nearly (if not) the same CPU and GPU I had.

Your GPU is actually a Maxwell based GTX750 which for laptops and especially for your resolution is a powerhouse. With your core i7 and this GPU you can easily play this game at ultra (even max) settings at 60FPS.
