well, i don't know about the r7 240, but i do know about the hd 6570 which is almost the same, that card runs the game at medium-high, 40 fps (at 1024x1280 resolution, which is 25% more pixels to fill than 768x1366),

This means that you can play it on 768p at medium high with 40-50 fps. (this will be lower when in a world boss event)

My guess - Ultra 1080p 55-60 fps most of the time. Can drop in cities to 45-50 fps. If doing WvW/World bosses can drop to 30-40 fps if 100-250 people (Everyone will get fps drops in those cases, it's the game engine limitation).

I used to play this game one year ago, and I could run it at full maxed out settings at 45-55fps normally and around 35fps in the huge battles. Now I can't even get it to run smoothly at medium-high. Any ideas why? Mby Dx12? idk

probably something to do with dx12 (correct me if im wrong). When maxed out with a gtx 960 you'll get something like 50 fps normally. It became quite a demanding game compared with a year ago.

but here is a tip: don't max this game anyway, when the huge battles are, you'll get a immense drop (tried it with a R7 370 2GB OC edition, went from 35fps to 1-3 fps at 1080p).

Guild wars 2 still runs in dx9. It's also poorly optimized. That said, best thing you can do is start decreasing player quantity and quality. Also, try putting the camera clipping slider in general settings all the way to the left.

Yes, low to medium settings. FPS will drop during big battles/events.
