We recently announced the Final Fantasy XIV Minimum System Requirements - These modest game specs are laid out at the bottom of this article.Square Enix have now unleashed their Final Fantasy XIV Recommended System Requirements and they are absolute brutes. So much so that we can only presume they have accidentally travelled into the future and brought back a copy of their xmas wish list and posted that up instead.
Because of this we are going to keep our comparable figures (in our system checker tool, just above this article on the game details page) marked as predicted and lower them from these recommended system requirements to a more sensible set of componenets while still likely to be able to play this online game with reasonable settings turned on.

Final Fantasy XIV subscription costs
In a press release, Square Enix revealed the pricing and subscription plans. The PC's regular edition is set for a $49.99 while the collectors edition for $74.99. The most important bit though, is the subscription fees, which is a lovely $12.99 per month.
Final Fantasy Online Collector edition will allow access to the game from 22nd September whereas regular edition allows access from 30th September
Let us know what you think and any experiences you have with the beta or when the full game is realesed?
A Crystalline Prophecy? Um.. That's incorrect. A Crystalline Prophecy was an add-on pack for FINAL FANTASY XI Online.. FINAL FANTASY XIV Online is a completely new concept and game, with no affiliation.
Thanks for the correction Matt. We have sorted this out.
Looks like everyone's jumping on the MMO bandwagon eh. Got to admit the only FF game I've ever played is Crisis Core, I find these JRPGs too tough to really get into. £12.99 a month is well steep too, you could have four pints for that!
I'm playing beta and I maged to get the game playable (30fps) with this settings:
Oh and this is my current rig, for those who care:
