Full system requirements for Thief 2014 reported on Jan-17-2014

Getting to play as Garrett again is likely going to be a long awaited treat for many gamers. The world of Thief was a place where some of the original first person stealth ever happened. Towards the end of the 90's it used the shooter rich 3D worlds and applied cunning and shadow.

Its original home was firmly on PC and now we get to see what sort of PC rig is likely required to get Thief 2014 system requirements running...

Thief Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista with updated platform patch

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 2.66 GHZ or an AMD Athlon II X2 240 (A high-performance dual core CPU or quad core CPU)

RAM: 4GB system memory

HD : 20GB of free hard disk

GPU: AMD Radeon 4800 series / Nvidia GTS 250

DX: 10 Direct X

Thief Recommended System Requirements

OS: Win 7 64-Bit or Win 8 64-Bit

CPU: AMD FX 8000 series or better / Intel i7 Quad Core CPU

RAM: 4+ GB system memory

HD : 20GB of free hard disk

GPU: AMD Radeon HD / R9 series or better / Nvidia GTX 660 series or better

DX: 11 Direct X

There are a few hefty requirements hooked into that lot above. With the CPU i7 and FX 8000 in particular catching our eye. These are both AMD and Intel high end CPUs, that we are being advised we will require for the Thief recommended processor requirement. We think that these are likely an overstatement but will run the game through its paces when it lands next month on the 25th February 2014.

Another point of interest in the requirements listed above is the AMD recommended graphics card listed as an R9. These are AMDs latest offerings and some pretty solid cards.

Check out the comparison between the AMD Radeon R9 270 vs Nvidia GeForce GTX 660, which are the two listed Recommended Thief GPU requirements. They are both highly similar performance wise.

Thief 2014 Partners With AMD

We have talked a fair bit about AMD's Mantle tech lately and it seems like Eidos have decided to take a look at what that is all about. Thief 2014 will be enjoying some technological advantages through a partnering with AMD. As well as having access to the Mantle API, Thief will also utilise AMDs Eyefinity multi-display technology and their "trueAudio" tech as well.

Thief will be capable of Direct X 11 rendering as well.

If you are thinking of upgrading to play Thief, then be aware that the Eidos/AMD partnership goes as far as some of their AMD GPUs being bundled with a "free" copy of the stealth em up.

Naturally we will be stress testing Thief on various PCs, once we have infiltrated Eidos and stolen our review sample right out from under their noses. Or when they send us our review copy, whichever happens first.

Check out if your rig can run Thief 2014 system requirements

Your ram (and CPU) is less than sufficient but you should manage with tweaked medium settings.

Can I run at ultra, 720p, with 40FPS+? I hear you need great FPS to really enjoy this game, so would 40FPS be enough?(Please no crap about 'Eye can only see 30FPS' as that's been proven wrong MANY times.)
