Back of the Box
Welcome to the world of DayZ, hit by a new and presently unknown infection which has wiped out most of the world's population. You are one of the few that have survived and now you must search this new wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the indigenous population now infected with the disease. Go solo, team up with friends or take on the world, as you choose your path in this brutal and chilling landscape using whatever means you stumble upon to survive.
This is DayZ, this is your story.
DayZ is a gritty, authentic, open-world survival horror hybrid-MMO game, in which players follow a single goal: to survive in the harsh post-apocalyptic landscape as long as they can. Players can experience powerful events and emotions arising from the ever-evolving emergent gameplay. There are no superficial tips, waypoints, built in tutorials or help given to players. Every decision matters, there are no save games, no extra lives, every mistake can be lethal. If you f

Full system requirements for DayZ Standalone reported on Dec-17-2013

DayZ has taken its merry time shuffling its way to a full retail release, but the zombie-slaying online survival sim has finally made its way to Steam with an early alpha release of DayZ Standalone.

DayZ Standalone is the follow-up to the incredibly popular Arma II mod, DayZ, pitting you and dozens of other players up against impending zombie doom. Already featuring over 230km² of landmass, this looks like one not to miss. So be sure to check the DayZ Standalone Alpha System Requirements to see if your PC gives a double-tap to the zombie hordes or gets its brains devoured by the masses...

DayZ Minimum System Requirements

OS: Windows Vista SP2 or Windows 7 SP1

CPU: Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz or Athlon X2 2.5 GHz

RAM: 2GB System Memory

GPU RAM: 512MB Graphics Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT 512MB or AMD Radeon HD 3830

DX: DirectX 9.0c

HDD: 10 GB Free Hard Drive Space

DayZ Recommended System Requirements

OS: Windows 7 SP1

CPU: 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Core i5-2300 or 3GHz AMD Phenom II X4 940

RAM: 4 GB System Memory

GPU RAM: 1 GB Graphics Memory

GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or AMD Radeon HD 7750

HDD: 14 GB Free Hard Drive Space

The minimum requirements on DayZ look to be very reasonable for a game on this scale. Anyone who met the recommended requirements for the original DayZ mod should be comfortable playing this game.

The minimum requirements for DayZ standalone require the classic Nvidia GeForce 8800GT and upwards, as well as a dual-core processor clocked at at least 2.4GHz. It's worth bearing in mind that the more chaotic things get in DayZ the more your system's going to struggle. Those of you with PCs neared the minimum requirements will be fine during the slower-paced parts of the game but once it heats up may struggle to keep pace.

The recommended settings are a  bitof step up, with the extra hard drive space evidently going to higher resolution textures which will be more demanding on systems. DayZ is fairly CPU dependent so having a higher-tier processor could also make a huge difference. Joining those larger servers it's probably best to have more than the minimum 2GB of RAM but overall this game isn't overly demanding for what it is, with the Arma II engine the game is based upon now over four years old.

Remember, you can always check out how well your PC can run the DayZ Standalone System Requirements here, where you can check benchmarking and performance from other users.

Okay then, what do you think of these system requirements?

Have you already had a play, how does it run on your rig?

Could i run it ? Just to mention Watch Dogs Tweaked medium settings -30ish FPS. Seems like this GPU is worth a bit more hmm. I just don't know how this would run or is it unoptimised or something. Thanks in advance.Cheers

You should be able to run it on low-medium or medium at your resolution. You'll have drops in bigger cities though, that's inevitable :/

the specs i said, oh mobile by the way, and see how poorly it is on my computer, like i said it is still fun and worth getting in my opinion. if youre looking for amazing graphics though, dont expect to much. this game is hard to run

Your CPU shows nearly two times better performance than his does in games, and so does your GPU. He may run the game, but I doubt he'll find 10 fps playable.

Ultra settings with 60 fps, but you'll have drops. Fortunately though, the SLI support seems good in this game, so the drops shouldn't be that frequent :)

A good upgrade would be a GTX 760 or an R9 280x, if you want a bit more performance and aren't keen on Nvidia. It's basically as good as a GTX 770 but costs as much as a 760.
That being said, I don't think you're due for an upgrade right now. Your rig can still handle all modern games fairly well. Also, upgrading won't get rid of the drops in this game :/

By "quality" I assume you mean settings, which would be ultra. As for fps, expect around 50-60, but you will also get drops, especially in bigger cities.

Yeah, the optimization is pretty bad… Hopefully it will only improve though, the game is still an alpha, after all :D

You should technically be able to run it on ultra, but I'd recommend high-ultra for around 40-45 fps on average.

Why do i get such unplayable Framerates? Even if i put everything on low i get around 10 fps in citys and everything looks kind of blurry. I thought my new graphics card might be able to deliver atleast playable FPS..

Because the optimization is sadness. If you can even call it optimization. See, the game isn't finished yet. In fact, it's still in its alpha state. So everyone gets drops, there's nothing really we can do about it :/

I mean i know that drops occur but for it to be utterly unplayable was quite a shock to me. I am planning on upgrading my CPU to a FX-8320 next week, might that change my **ty fps a bit?

0
auntarie
17:31 Aug-17-2014

It'll reduce the bottleneck you have, which isn't even that bad, but you still won't get that much better fps. It's not a hardware problem in this case. Even a rig that has a 780ti paired with a 4960x will still see drops to below 30.

My problems are not the drops though. I cant even reach a playable framerate, in citys it ist always around 15 and even in the wildernes it hardly scratches 30… But i will wait and see. Rocket gibe optimisation plis
