Gaming Performance Comparison

In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 7770 Gigabyte OC Edition are very slightly better than the AMD Radeon HD 7750 Gigabyte 1GB OC Edition.

The HD 7770 has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed and 8 more Texture Mapping Units than the HD 7750. This results in the HD 7770 providing 15.8 GTexel/s better texturing performance. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The HD 7770 has a 220 MHz higher core clock speed than the HD 7750 and the same number of Render Output Units. This results in the HD 7770 providing 3.5 GPixel/s better pixeling performance. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The HD 7770 was released less than a year after the HD 7750, and so they are likely to have similar driver support for optimizing performance when running the latest games.

The Radeon HD 7750 Gigabyte 1GB OC Edition and the Radeon HD 7770 Gigabyte OC Edition have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The HD 7770 has 8 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the HD 7750, which means that the memory performance of the HD 7770 is marginally better than the HD 7750.

The Radeon HD 7750 Gigabyte 1GB OC Edition has 512 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 7770 Gigabyte OC Edition has 640. However, the actual shader performance of the HD 7750 is 406 and the actual shader performance of the HD 7770 is 634. The HD 7770 having 228 better shader performance and an altogether better performance when taking into account other relevant data means that the HD 7770 delivers a slightly smoother and more efficient experience when processing graphical data than the HD 7750.

We would recommend a PSU with at least 400 Watts for the HD 7750 and a PSU with at least 450 Watts for the HD 7770. The HD 7770 has been recommended a PSU with 50 Watts more than the HD 7750. The difference is significant enough that the HD 7770 may have a slight adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the HD 7750.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewRadeon HD 7750 Gigabyte 1GB OC Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class Radeon HD 7750 that features a new cooling system and overclocking out of the box in the core-clock of 80MHz and is now of 880MHz.
The performance boost is somewhat significant and benchmarks indicate a 6.75% performance boost when compared to the standard edition.
Radeon HD 7770 Gigabyte OC Edition is a special edition of the fast-middle-class Radeon HD 7770. See the standard version for more information about it.
The new features include overclocking out of the box in the central unit that went from 1000MHz to 1100MHz and in the memory clock - once 1125MHz and now 1250MHz. A new quiet and efficient cooling system is also available.
Benchmarks indicate a 7% performance boost when compared to the standard Radeon HD 7770.
Benchmarks indicate that the most demanding games (e.g. Metro 2033) will run at the highest settings but not at extreme resolutions (due to the limited memory size).
