Gaming Performance Comparison

In terms of overall gaming performance, the graphical capabilities of the AMD Radeon HD 7850 are very slightly better than the Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

The GTX 750 Ti has a 160 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon HD 7850, but the Radeon HD 7850 has 24 more Texture Mapping Units than the GTX 750 Ti. As a result, the Radeon HD 7850 exhibits a 14.2 GTexel/s better Texture Fill Rate than the GTX 750 Ti. This still holds weight but shader performance is generally more relevant, particularly since both of these GPUs support at least DirectX 10.

The GTX 750 Ti has a 160 MHz higher core clock speed than the Radeon HD 7850, but the Radeon HD 7850 has 16 more Render Output Units than the GTX 750 Ti. As a result, the Radeon HD 7850 exhibits a 11.2 GPixel/s better Pixel Fill Rate than the GTX 750 Ti. However, both GPUs support DirectX 9 or above, and pixeling performance is only really relevant when comparing older cards.

The GTX 750 Ti was released over a year more recently than the Radeon HD 7850, and so the GTX 750 Ti is likely to have better driver support, meaning it will be more optimized for running the latest games.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti and the Radeon HD 7850 have the same amount of video memory, but are likely to provide slightly different experiences when displaying game textures at high resolutions.

The Radeon HD 7850 has 67.2 GB/sec greater memory bandwidth than the GTX 750 Ti, which means that the memory performance of the Radeon HD 7850 is much better than the GTX 750 Ti.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti has 640 Shader Processing Units and the Radeon HD 7850 has 1024. However, the actual shader performance of the GTX 750 Ti is 937 and the actual shader performance of the Radeon HD 7850 is 793. The GTX 750 Ti having 144 better shader performance is not particularly notable, as altogether the Radeon HD 7850 performs better when taking into account other relevant data.

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti requires 60 Watts to run and the Radeon HD 7850 requires 130 Watts. We would recommend a PSU with at least 300 Watts for the GTX 750 Ti and a PSU with at least 500 Watts for the Radeon HD 7850. The Radeon HD 7850 requires 70 Watts more than the GTX 750 Ti to run. The difference is significant enough that the Radeon HD 7850 may have an adverse affect on your yearly electricity bills in comparison to the GTX 750 Ti.

GPU Mini Review

Mini ReviewOverview
GeForce GTX 750 Ti is a performance Graphics Card based on the first variant of the Maxwell architecture.

Architecture
The first variant of the Maxwell Architecture succeeds the Kepler Architecture. Despite being also manufactured with a 28nm technology, it has an extremely large L2 Cache which allows NVIDIA to produce Graphics Cards with relatively small memory data transfer rates, without causing too much impact on the overall performance. Furthermore, the Shaders have been redesigned and are both more powerful and energy efficient.

GPU
It equips a GPU codenamed GM107-400-A2 which has 5 SM activated and thus offers 640 Shader Processing Units, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs, on a 128-bit memory interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit runs at 1020MHz and goes up to 1085MHz, in Turbo Mode, while the memory clock operates at 1350MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.2 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for GameStream, G-SYNC, GPU Boost 2.0, GeForce Experience, PhysX and other technologies.

Cooling Solution
The Cooling Solution consists of a Single-Fan and is identical to the one seen on GeForce GTX 650. The Card is known to run very cool and has a maximum operating temperature of 95ÂșC.

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 60W, it requires at least a 300W PSU and relies entirely on the PCI Slot for power.

Release Price
Pricing is identical to the one seen on its predecessors - $149.

Performance
Benchmarks indicate its performance is largely better than its predecessor's but Radeon HD 7850 and GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost Edition still offer better performance, due to their high memory bandwidth transfer rates.

System Suggestions
We recommend a strong processor (Intel Core i5 Quad Core/AMD FX Six Core) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 750 Ti.
Radeon HD 7850 is a high-end GPU based on 28nm GCN architecture.
It's based on the Pitcairn Core (Pro variant) and therefore offers 1024 Shader Processing Units, 64 TMUs and 32 ROPs on a 256-bit interface of fast GDDR5. The central unit is clocked at 860MHz while the memory clock operates at 1200MHZ.
It offers great performance, almost on level with previously acclaimed Radeon HD 6970. Therefore, most demanding games are playable at the highest settings with fluent frame rates, using a 1080p resolution.
Radeon HD 7850 was elected the best GPU of 2012 by the GD community, thanks to its accessible price and outstanding performance.
