GeForce GTX 670MX Game Requirement Analysis

Overview
GeForce GTX 670MX is a Performance Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed Kepler GK104-N13E-GR-A2 which has 5 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 960 Shader Processing Units, 80 TMUs and 24 ROPs. The Central Unit is clocked at 601MHz.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 3GB frame buffer of fast GDDR5, through a 192-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 700MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 75W, it is suited for large sized laptops.

Performance
Gaming benchmarks indicate is not too far from the desktop GeForce GTX 650 Ti.

System Suggestions
We recommend a Power Processor (Intel Core i7 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GTX 670MX.

Hey guys .. Do u think this card can handle the next couple of years ?? With AAA titls like watch dogs and bf 4 and ac 4 and stuff comin out it's scary to think how well my laptop can run them..I know this card will handle dx11 games and upcoming games will better use CPU and gpu better.. But :(

watchdog is a bit heavy, otherwise you can run the rest at high settings, you and me have the same configuration, you can overclock your gpu by using MSI afterburner

is there a big difference between GTX 670M and GTX 670MX ? the difference is only about 20% but is it that much or are they same in the performance ?

the gtx 670m is an old fermi based architecture GPU… on the otherhand the gtx 670mx is a new kepler based GPU…. 670mx is a bit better than the 670m :)

This should perform better on Modern AAA titles and standard resolutions, but for large displays the Fermi GTX 675M should do the job faster, and heat up more ;)

Would 17.3 inches at 1080p be considered a large display? also im not playing anything older than 2010

Yeah you can say that 1080p is fairly big. 670MX Kepler is more power efficient, and works better with DX11 titles, but the memory is clocked a bit lower and the Memory interface is 192-bit, compared to GTX 675M, hence a limited bandwidth, which is required for larger resolutions.

The fact is, is that When ever i use my laptop, its most likely gonna be plugged in, thus dimishing any power consumption problems… however I do plan on buying new games in the future with dx11 XD which leaves the question, 675 or 670MX

They should be around the same actually. The difference is very marginal as in within -5% of each other. Benchmarks are very close. The 675M has a bigger bus and more ROPS while the 670MX has more cores (a bit slower than fermi though) and more texture units. Kepler has more OC potential though.

Hi Guys,
Since this GPU is based on the Kepler architecture, it offers exceptional performance on DirectX 11 based games and 675M pales in comparison. However, as the resolution and images improving techniques increase, GTX 675M wins. Still, 670MX wins at most modern games and remember that GTX 675M is a renamed GTX 580M which is an overclocked GTX 485M. It has been pushed and recycled many times while GTX 670MX has better driver support through major improvements for the Kepler GK106 Core, also used on the desktop GTX 660.
