GeForce GT 750M Review

Overview
GeForce GT 750M is a Fast-Middle-Class Mobile Graphics Card based on the first revision of the Kepler Architecture.

Architecture
The Kepler Architecture was NVIDIA's big step to power efficiency. Each Stream Multiprocessor (SMX) now hosts 192 Shader Processing Units - against the 48 of older Fermi Architecture, and has been redesigned being now clocked at the same speed of the Central Unit. This means they are more energy efficient and will consequently lead to cooler operating temperatures. However, it also means they are weaker. It can be said that one Fermi SMX is as fast as 2 Kepler SMXs.
Additionally, and not available in all GPUs, Kepler also introduced the Boost Clock Feature. The Boost Clock is an even higher Clock Speed activated when in gaming mode and becomes the effective speed of the GPU.

GPU
It equips a GPU Codenamed GK107-N14P-GT which has 2 Stream Multiprocessors activated and thus offers 384 Shader Processing Units, 32 TMUs and 16 ROPs. The Central Unit is initially clocked at 941MHz and goes up to 1058MHz, in Turbo Mode.

Memory
The GPU accesses a 2GB frame buffer of DDR3, through a 128-bit memory interface. The size of the frame buffer is exaggerated and no way benefits the GPU. The Memory Clock Operates at 900MHz.

Features
DirectX 11.0 Support (11.0 Hardware Default) and support for SLI, Kepler Boost, Optimus, CUDA, OpenCL, DirectCompute, 3D Vision Surround, PhysX, Realtime Raytracing and other technologies

Power Consumption
With a rated board TDP of 50W, it is suited for average sized laptops.

Performance
GeForce GT 750M is essentially a fast GeForce GT 650M.
Gaming benchmarks indicate a 10% Performance Boost over the older GeForce GT 650M.

System Suggestions
We recommend a decent processor (Intel Core i5 Mobile) and 8GB of RAM for a system with GeForce GT 750M.

4GB is a complete waste for this card, there is no way it can use that much, and SLI'ed memory is separate not shared so it would be 2GB x 2GB not 4GB.

So I'm looking at a laptop (Asus N56VV link: http://www.1a.ee/arvutitehnika/sulearvutid/asus_n56vv_full_hd_i7) with this GPU. It's a Full HD laptop. Just wondering how much does the gpu's GDDR3 affect in terms of gaming performance - how many fps do I lose compared to GDDR5 version? Other than that it looks like a very good laptop. I especially like the 7200 rpm HDD. So yeah.. worth to buy or not?

Check out notebook check . net… this card isn't as good as the 660m by about an average of 6-8 fps on every game and yet it is listed as 3 percent better. Just though i would give my two cents!

Make sure that you are not using low performance gpu. Right click that shortcut or exe where ever you start your game and select high performance gpu. I dont know why but some times it wants to run demanding games with that integrated lag bag so you have to manually select it sometimes. And some times if it doesnt help and it keeps running it with low perf gpu no matter what just re-instal drivers it helped for me.

No it isn't. Check them out on notebookcheck. The 660m Consistently get 7-10 fps better on just about every game tested.

This is the ddr3 version so it is worst than the 660m by 5-10 percent. If you can get the 2GB GDDR5 version, then that is better than than the 660m by 10-15 percent.
